Hi all,

I bought a Samsung 49" Oddessey G9, 240Hz, 5120x1440 (what a beast :eek_:) and I want to buy the Razer Blade 2020 MaxQ Super 2070 but I can't find any specification/information on what this Razer Blade can handle with an external monitor.

Maybe someone can inform me regarding:
-What is max. external resolution and Hz that a Blade 2020 MaxQ Super 2070 can handle?
-What is the best way to connect the display for optimal performance? (USB-C to DP?)
-Does someone have the experience with a Blade advanced and a 49" monitor?

Any specification or information is more than welcome.

Thnx all :wink_:

The maximum is 7680x4320 @ 60hz for RTX 2070, however this is limited more by which games you are playing as the resolution of your monitor is close to 4k in amount of pixels. Meaning you'll likely not have FPS much above 30-50 playing AAA titles and in some cases need to further scale down the resolution.

I'm myself using the older CRG9 from Samsung (identical specs to Odyssey G9, the only difference is 120hz instead of 240hz) and my RBP with 2080 Super barely manages to run Far Cry 5 at max settings at this resolution with 40-50 FPS framerate, with occasional frameskips if using the HD textures.

But for slightly older games like let's say GTA V or such you can probably to get FPS close to 50-60 on the native resolution of your display with some settings turned down.

You'll essentially only be running above 100 FPS in either Windows or older games like Counterstrike as 4k & 5120x1440 are super intensive to run in any graphically intensive game.

However the Samsung 49" displays are REALLY amazing to play and work on 🙂
And the colours are amazing!

"-What is the best way to connect the display for optimal performance? (USB-C to DP?)"

That's correct. Just make sure to get a correct USB-C to DP adapter that supports the higher bandwith required. If you find an adapter that mentions it supports 8k @ 60Hz and it should work.
Thnx for the info @TheParadyme, this really helps me. I didn't think I could run games @ max settings with the new settings, but you are the first who shares info on playing with a combo Razer Blade + 49".

I've read that performance with a single display is better then with dual displays. This was the reason for me to buy the 49" in the first place :wink_:

And good tip on the USB-C to DP adapter regarding the bandwith :smile_:
Thank you for this. I am getting closer to upgrading my 34" (3440x1440) monitor and I have been really looking at the 49" Samsung monitors. I like the 34" for gaming, but for work, the larger size would be helpful. I am going to wait for the next generation Blade though.
