Just got my Razer Blade 15 (2020) Advanced as all round it it was the best system for my needs as a developer; unfortunately the stock 16gb memory was not enough. Decided to upgrade my system a couple of days ago with 64gb of HyperX 3200 memory. Upgrade went smoothly and everything works, sadly this has been a very negative experience.

Whilst the upgrade went smoothly, the process of getting the back cover off was a nightmare. I used a t5 torx screwdriver to get the screws out, the threadlock in the sockets meant having to apply a significant amount of force to get them out. One of the screws in the right corner was just impossible to get out, so much so that I ended up shredding the screw. To get that one out I had to tap the screw with a drill bit.

After performing the upgrade, I proceeded to begin reattaching the backplate with the remaining screws. During the process of doing so 3 screws gave way and immediately shredded without applying any force. The quality of these screws in my opinion is extremely poor, they are far far too malleable.

In any case doing some reading about the correct screw size for this system, it appeared as though m2x3.5 screws are the correct ones. I've been unable to source screws that are a) that size b) torx head. I've had to use the closest approximation I can find here in the UK which is a phillips head m2x4, they adequately secure the bottom cover to the case, but stick out a little bit; which bothers me.

I get that razer isn't really intending you to do user upgrades/service, but I'm just really disappointed with the quality of those screws and it bothers me that the screws I have now don't sit entirely flush with the backpanel; it sounds like a small thing, but when you've just forked out £3k for a machine, it is. I'm hoping at some point in the future I'll be able to source a like for like screw replacement, but who knows.

Also I found information to be sparse around the net in terms of determining what ram speeds the 2020 model supports. So I thought I'd put it out there - the stock ram included with the advanced model is actually rated at 3200mhz 1.2v ( the exact sku is M471A1K43DB1-CWE and it's manufactured by Samsung ) - the bios runs it at 2933 by default. Any memory module that runs at 1.2v will work ( I got the HyperX 3200 modules ), but unless you enable xmp it will run at 2933 (if over). The reports of specific brands not working, I believe is because of the higher voltage. I hope that helps anyone who is looking going forward.

I wasn't happy with the phillips head screws because they weren't flush - went ahead and bought these t5 screws: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12x-Razer-15-Black-T5-Torx-Base-Replacement-Screws-Laptop-New-M2x3-NEW/303018916049?hash=item468d55b8d1:g:f6sAAOSwFHpfQ68e .

They fit flush with the base and are extremely strong, the stock screws are like butter in comparison; hope that helps other people.
