I travel for business almost every week so I need mobility. The Base model has most everything I need in a power business machine, including a dedicated Ethernet port. Now I don't have to carry yet another dongle. It's only lacking an SD card reader. I do carry a USB SD card reader so it's no big deal. I'm not a gamer but require a laptop that will function well with the use of some graphics software. My current laptop has a 1tb m.2 ssd and it's nearing 70% utilization. I have a 400gb SD card inserted and it's at 210gb utilization. Much of the utilization is files I have accumulated in nearly 30 years of working in the Robotics Automation field. Now add pictures and music and I am easily at 1tb of storage. This was the main reason for the 4tb ssd. I perform frequent backups so if the ssd goes bad then I'm only out a few days of data. Something I can live with.

The main reason to load up the base model is migrating all my software and licenses is a MAJOR pain in the rear. This platform should allow me sufficient performance and storage for 5+ years. That's the hope anyway.

I attempted to do a fresh build of Windows 10 Pro and there were some significant functional issues after the build. For one, the system would not shutdown or go into hibernate. I could never get one of the display drivers to clear the warning. There were some other nit-noid issues as well that simply bugged me. I uninstalled some software and then I reinstalled the original m.2 ssd that came with the system. I then reinstalled the software. I will ghost the original m.2 over to the 2tb ssd via Samsung migration tool next week when I get the m.2 usb card slot holder I ordered. That should take care of the upgrade of m.2 ssd. So far everything is working fine but I really haven't tested the functionality of the system as of yet.

Check out my backup and recovery videos, you don't need a nvme enclosure.

So far no issues whatsoever. The second storage drive (2.5" 4tb SSD) is working well and very fast. No problems with heating issues but I haven't tested the system at all. So far I am pleased with the base model.

I recently purchased the Blade 15 Base Model with 128G M.2 SATA and a 1TB standard HHD. The 128G drive is just too small, so I want to upgrade it. I've contacted support, but they've been less than helpful.

I'd like to get a 1TB M.2 SATA SSD drive, but having a problem finding one that's compatible. It currently has a Lite-On CV6-8Q128 drive. Looking at the specs, it says it's a 22110. I can find all kinds of 2280's but no 22110's. Has anyone updated the M.2 SATA SSD drive in their Base Model Razer 15 2018?

    Thanks!

Why not? It keeps the laptop thin but still features an ethernet port. One possible downside is durablity though.

I've upgraded my Razer Blade base model to a 2tb m.2 sata ssd and 4tb 2.5" sata ssd and 36gb ram. The only other upgradable item is the WiFi card. Not sure it's worth it at this point. No issues with WiFi, let alone anything else. Now to load the rest of the business software I need and put the Blade through its paces, albeit not as taxing as gaming. ;)

  10. I installed a SAMSUNG MZNTY256HDHP without any problems

  11. I asked this already in a separated thread is a bios update to 1.05 necessary to fix the touchpad problem in linux? I tried Linux Mint briefly and sometimes the touchpad stopped working completely.

The Samsung 2tb m.2 SATA ssd I installed was a MZ-N6E2T0BW model. I have had no issues at all with the cloning and performance of the new ssd. The Samsung migration software was really easy to use. All you need is a SATA m.2 usb adapter and run the software.

Exactly. I've seen to many of those broke on the user.

It never did for me so far though. I just heard it from other people over the net. And yes, I do use my ethernet port and even in an uncomfortable position.

I have never broken the ethernet cover/flap on a thin laptop that I have owned/been assigned. While it can be done easily I suspect, I am careful with my laptops since these are business machines I need to perform my job function. That said I went with a base model Razer Blade due to the standard ethernet port.
