Razer Blade For School

  1. Hi

I recently purchased (Parents recently purchased) a Razer Blade late 2016 for school and as a christmas/Bday present. The reason I went for the blade was so I could game perfectly, while also having the portability and convenience of a thin laptop. I was going to get a semi OK laptop for school and build a high end PC but I move between houses frequently so that wasn't much of an option.

Before the Blade arrives I would like to know a few things -

Was it a good choice for a school laptop for around 4-5 hours of non intensive use -

Will it break easily, and what are some ways to prevent it being stolen/broken -

Will the fan be as loud as everyone says it is, and be able to disturb other classmates -

If I bought it yesterday, how many days until it should arrive -

    Is it touch screen -

    Was it worth it -

I plan on buying myself a Blade for University this year and I plan on getting a Late 2016 model, I suspect it be the perfect device for school/uni due to how thin and powerful it is. As for your questions?

Was it a good choice for a school laptop for around 4-5 hours of non intensive use - It could be a little overkill for none intensive use, a Stealth Kaby could work too but I'd personally take the Blade over a Kaby Stealth.

Will it break easily, and what are some ways to prevent it being stolen/broken - The blade has an overall extremely good build quality with almost no work points I believe, the screen has almost no bend in it either. As for being stolen, Try a Dbrand skin which hides the logo. No one will really know the value when looking at the lid.

Will the fan be as loud as everyone says it is, and be able to disturb other classmates - They only get loud when under extreme load. Should be okay for class use unless you decide to play some VR in class.

If I bought it yesterday, how many days until it should arrive - between 3 and 10 I think.

Is it touch screen - Depends on the model bought. I think it's the 4k display which has touch.

Was it worth it - That's not something we can answer for you, you decide that.

  3. Thanks so much for the answer, I'm pretty confident that this was a great choice for me. ;)

If anyone else has different answers, please tell me :)

well i have a Stealth for school(I take computer programming) and not to mention I t's cheaper and its more of a "Work first, play second" for me, i also use it to edit videos on the go, Really small and light, less likely to be stolen because of small size and portability in your backpack(also im pretty sure you got the blade mostly for that GTX graphics for studying ;)) Either way your getting a good deal with razer

  6. I'm a uni student using the blade as my daily driver, my experience is as follows:
Was it a good choice for a school laptop for around 4-5 hours of non intensive use - Yes if you put everything in the maximum energy saving mode and disable fast boot

Will it break easily, and what are some ways to prevent it being stolen/broken - I haven't dropped mine, keep it in a decent case as a metal laptop will probably dent, to stop it getting stolen just try not to leave it lying around in pidgeon holes or anything

Will the fan be as loud as everyone says it is, and be able to disturb other classmates - The left fan is audible but not disturbing. The coil whine on mine has been notified by my peers, but it's not too intrusive.

If I bought it yesterday, how many days until it should arrive - Depends where you are and if it was in stock.

Is it touch screen - Depends if you got FHD or QHD+(touch screen)

Was it worth it - Yes, only because of that GTX 1060. It's an absolute beast.

Trust me, we all love the performance to size, and as an engineering student , I love being able to complete my autocad projects before others can even boot up the software. (It gets about 3.5h to 4h of autocad) The one this I wished I did doffrently was wait snother month and get the 1060 one, dont get me wrong, I love the 970m, but The 1060 is just such a nice jump up.

Edit- well if the inage links worked you would see 3 blades together at my college.

  8. Haha that photo is awesome xD (Right click and open in new tab)

Everyone is saying different things about the fan, which is what I'm most worried about. What's your opinion on the fan, and do you think Razer will release a firmware to fix the issue.

    Thanks

    Don't think it's touch screen.
If you're planning to use it for school for about at least 5 hours the razer blade isn't for you. On the other hand you can play games on it tho and at least you can still use it. If you're only planning to use it for school then I suggest the razer blade stealth

If it were up to me I wouldn't buy a razer laptop for school, becuase I'd be to distracted.

Don't see how a specific laptop could distract you... just because it's from a specific brand.

Well since the blade 14" has a 1060 it would be fun to play games on. If I had a Apple laptop they can't game, so I wouldn't Game. (High levels of distraction run in my family)

That's true. That's why they have the Stealth version ;)
