  1. Whats up guys

I got myself a razer blade 1060, and I was wondering what I need to do, to make it so it games to it's best when it's plugged in, but save as much power as it can when it's running on battery.
I believe you can do things through the Nvidia and intel panel, and through the power settings on windows 10. But I want to get an answer from you guys first.

    Thanks in advance

So for mine, and you will need to excuse my memory as it wont be in any particular order (I should have written it down)

Update both Intel HD graphics & NVIDIA drivers

    Update EC firmware:

    http://www.razersupport.com/gaming-systems/razer-blade-v5/

    Uninstall:
    • Nvidia Experience - After you disable the battery boost function
    • Killer Wifi - Dont worry drivers will stay
    In Intel HD graphics:
    • Adjust screen brightness to your liking - Display menu (for games)
    • Turn off Panel-Self Refresh - Power menu
    • Enable extend battery life for gaming - Power menu
    Nvidia Control Panel:
    • Turn off Vertical Sync
    • I also have triple buffering off (not sure if that was default)
    • For gaming use Optimal Power option
    • Setting preferred graphics card in the Program tab for selected programs can ensure the Intel GPU is used, this will save battery power for particular programs as it shouldn't enable the 1060 when in use.
    Synapse:
    • Adjust lighting brightness to dim or turn off when on battery.
    • In Power section, use Quiet mode for lowest Razer fan speed to save battery (Razer :eek_: will/are/may/might update fan curve/speed. If they do the fan speed on idle should be lower thus saving battery)
    Power Profile:
    • Set maximum CPU usage % to 99% to disable turbo boost.
    • Can set the CPU % lower for battery, though im not sure how much battery you could save.
    • Usual bettery saving options to your liking.
Also you can under-volt the CPU: Do this at your own risk, ensure you know what you are doing!!!!!

I might have forgotten some things but this is what I can remember off the top of my head.

    Anyone else?

Generally undervolting is considered safe if you take it slow by lowering the voltage at small increments at a time.

After updating the bios to V2, I recommend going in to the bios and under chipset disable ASPM for better gtx 1060 performance.

  5. What is bios v2, and how do I know if I have it, and where can I get it?

  6. Thanks so much for the in depth answer! What exactly is the EC firmware, and how can I get it? :)

http://dl.razerzone.com/support/Blade142016B5/B5 BIOS 2.00 updater.7z This will install some software that will automatically update the bios to V2. I would look to see if you have the ASPM option in the bios first because you might already have V2.

@ThatAlbinoFrog , Before updating the Bios do you have the Kabylake version or the Skylake one? The bios update v.2 is only for the skylake version, do not install the bios update if you have the kabylake one.
