Razer Blade Pro 17 2020 & Kingston HyperX IMPACT 64 GB DDR4-3200 or DDR4-2933 RAM memory upgrade

I purchased my Razer Blade Pro 17 last December (2020) and I read in the RAZER Insider Forum (without a deeper investigation, unfortunately), that the HX432S20IBK2/64 KINGSTON SODIMM memory 2x32GB DDR4 3200MHz CL20 HyperX Impact 1.2V would be a good choice to upgrade my anyway well-working laptop from 16 GB to 64 GB.

This is what I purchased today and inserted into the laptop:

The Product No is "RZ09-03297E42" of my Razer Blade Pro 17 Early 2020.
The version of my BIOS is 1.06
System BIOS Version is 1.6
Embedded Controller Firmware Version: 1.1

The current Stock RAM in the device is the following 16 GB set (2 x 8GB DDR4-3200):
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AhybCTlzw7gTgudXWpOeBtU1kJbYpg?e=B4cUhR (click on the link to see the image)

I am facing an issue: unfortunately, after switching on the laptop the screen isn't even switching on (remains BLACK) and the green led at the bottom right of the laptop is blinking. If I change back to the stock RAM the laptop boots normally. I even tried to mix the RAM modules, but without any positive result :slightly_sad:

What are you suggesting? Should I wait for being compatible over time and wait for a newer BIOS version to support my 2 x 32 GB DDR4-3200 RAM or better to sell it now for a DELL XPS owner who can use this RAM (it is confirmed).

This is the RAM:

HX432S20IBK2/64
64GB (32GB 4G x 64-Bit x 2 pcs.)
DDR4-3200 CL20 260-Pin SODIMM Kit

Unfortunately, the supplier doesn't want to take it back. However, as I need 64 GB for my tasks and I am considering buying another 2933 MHz module, that I read in this Forum but I am not that brave as before to jump into another headache if it wouldn't work. So, could somebody please tell me, that this will be compatible? My laptop is still under warranty and the price tag of the Kingston DDR4-2933 RAM

That is my PLAN "B":

HX429S17IBK2/64
64GB (32GB 4G x 64-Bit x 2 pcs.)
DDR4-2933 CL17 260-Pin SODIMM Kit

I learned that according to Intel the memory type should be/run at 2933 MHz.

According to Kingston, the HyperX Plug N Play memory will run in DDR4 systems up to the speed allowed by the manufacturer’s system BIOS (it is 2933 MHz by the 1.06 BIOS version). PnP cannot increase the system memory speed faster than is allowed by the manufacturer’s BIOS. HyperX Plug N Play DDR4 products support XMP 2.0 specifications so overclocking can also be achieved by enabling the built-in XMP Profile (I am not sure where is this in the 1.06 BIOS version or whether I could make the originally purchased HX432S20IBK2/64 usable using/changing a setting option prior the RAM module installation.

As my laptop is still under warranty, I cannot afford to make a brick from it using a BIOS mod, like this one at Razer BIOS Mods - Potential to Unlock All Hidden Options | NotebookReview

Thanks in advance and will be waiting for a piece of professional advice :smile_:

My laptop is still under warranty, and the price tag of the Kingston DDR4-2933 RAM is almost the same (not that cheap!) as the 3200 MHz version (which theoretically should work as well). I trust there is at least one product specialist/engineer in the Razer R&D who can clearly see and share what we can expect as I am not alone with this question, concern regarding the Kingston HyperX IMPACT 64 GB DDR4-3200 or DDR4-2933 64GB RAM upgrade to the Razer Blade Pro 17 2020. Any help, guidance you may provide is greatly appreciated.

Hello theblaser! Thanks for initiating this thread. I wanted to present this to our devs. By the way, I've replied to your PM. I'll wait for your follow-up.
Hi Razer.Speedcr0ss,

Yes, I saw that and I replied as well. I thought to share the issue with others to leverage it. I hope we will get positive results from the Razer devs.
