Razer Blade Stealth 2020 Bios Update Disabled TurboBoost

Is there anyway to revert to 1.02? A family member and I just bought stealths last week. I love the machine, but after updating to 1.03 it killed turbo boost. Geekbench scores are around half of what they were before the bios update. Any help?

I should rephrase, in the bios turboboost isn't disabled, it just doesn't go past 1.5ghz when using any application anymore.
You are another confirmed user of this issue :/

I went through this and after dealing with support for days I just ended up exchanging the laptop and am sticking with 1.02. If you disable Speed Stepping in the Bios you will get above the base clock but it wont go past 3.5ghz. That was the best that I could do to remedy. If possible I would see about getting an exchange if you purchased from a retailer. Otherwise you are unfortunately at Razer's mercy for releasing a fix.

Sorry to hear that you had the issue and unfortunate that I was not an isolated incident

That's a bummer, at least they responded to you though. Though it didn't lead to anything. They told me they would have a response to me yesterday and I haven't heard anything. I really like the laptop, but this is a major issue. I was going to exchange it, but all the Best Buy stores in my area are now OOS. So now it's either live with it until they hopefully fix it, or go with another brand. I'm leaning toward the latter, unfortunately.
Yea unfortunately I found that I had to hammer their support in order to get any response back. It got to the point where they did start emailing me but kept asking for additional information. When I asked what would be a reasonable turnaround for a resolution and they sent me another email asking for more information I said the heck with it and exchanged it. I was fortunate to have a Best Buy close to me that still had one left in stock this model went on clearance (one of the reasons I picked it up large discount) so finding them now could be tricky. If you did get it from Best Buy you should have an extended return period though which is nice. I had no trouble exchanging it just be sure to restore to factory default before you hand it over if you go that route. I also cloned my drive before doing so and then slapped that image on the new laptop after the exchange. All was well with the new laptop so it was definitely the update.

I am not sure if it was the BIOS update or the Intel Firmware Update that caused this those were both rolled up in the update installer. Either way I'll be closely monitoring. Razer should definitely pull down the update from their site though if the issue is widespread.

I keep messaging them, with no response, getting pretty frustrated. Again, I really like the machine, but I'm not going to wait forever for them to fix this issue. I got mine on clearance as well, but they are OOS now in my area. There are quite a few Best Buy stores in my area too. So I could return it and buy another one online, I can be without a laptop for a few days. My SSD is coming out either way, as I threw a 1TB WD SN750 I had in this machine. Just debating what I want to do, I've had many different laptops over the years. Some were gaming and some weren't. I've had pretty good luck with Alienware and their support wasn't great until I emailed execs, haha. That was for a damaged in transit issue. HP has always been awful for me.
After learning about your system I reached out to a Razer rep who contacted me on the forums here and this was their reply:

"Thanks for the PM. As far as I know, they are still trying to recreate the issue. They have already tested multiple units to no avail, so there have not been any breakthroughs just yet."

Out of curiosity what are the first 7 digits of your serial number? My bad unit had serial number beginning with by2022a and my new one is by2015a. You can pull the serial number from a command prompt using the command wmic bios get serialnumber

Curios if perhaps it was a bad batch?
Did your family member also perform the update and get the same issue?

I appreciate it! First of my serial are BY2027A

Yes, she has the same exact issue. I'd have to go get her machine to get the serial.
I also posted on reddit, and someone else posted that they had the same issue as well.
Found some more users :/

@R3DH3R0 Please PM me your ticket number, if you have one already, or the serial number of your laptop so I can properly get this documented. Do note that we already have a team on top of this. I'm currently collecting as many reports, so they have more information to work on.
Hi,
I just update my razer stealth bios to V1.03 and after that my razer stealth seems to start drop very low FPS in games like COD multiplayer, before the update of the bios my FPS were between 80-100. Already have re-install the nvidia drivers and windows update, but Im sure that since I upgrade the bios it start to have this issues in gaming.
I dont know if anyone having the same issues in gaming?

As far as I know, there is something wrong with the power phasing and/or power limitations with the BIOS update v1.03. This is already being looked into by our Devs and Engineers. With that said, please PM me the serial number of your laptop so I can properly document what you're experiencing.
