  1. First Post:

I got my Stealth last week and I'm pretty shocked about the time the system is able to run off battery. `powercfg /batteryreport` shows me an estimated life of 3:12:22 at full charge. I've only used the machine for casual browsing (no hour long video sessions or something like that), task manager doesn't show any suspicious activity (like a stuck process that's running at 100% cpu or something).

I get anywhere from 6 to 6.5 hours at max brightness watching 1080P anime, with 30% volume(spectrum cycling). When it comes to battery life, QHD is obviously the resolution to purchase.

I fell asleep 3 night's in a row watching anime, before I had to recharge.

The most important factor is he got the 4k model - I have the 2k. That will make a 2-3 hour difference most likely. Plus on a screen this size, those extra pixels are negligible. As long as you opt for QHD, not UHD you should be golden (and save money in the process)

  4. Yes, but my first decision was to get the UHD.
Would use my monitor at home for gaming.

Have to watch out for a good review about how big the difference on monitors is between QHD and UHD.

Honestly, not much. I own a 4k monitor and I am going to be downgrading (or upgrading in some sense) to a 2k with 144hz g-sync enabled monitor. Which is preferable for gaming anyhow

    skygunner27 and I BronXwaR I like this.
  6. lots of good input here. Thank you. @Lightbringer all in all you're right. Besides the fact that 3 hours is disappointing no matter how you look at it, the decision wasn't as well informed as I thought ;-) I'm giving the UHD another chance

And that was a 3 hour ESTIMATE, not actual use. Test it out, use it in real world conditions with battery life optimized settings (I.e. if battery life is important, turn down the brightness and make the keyboard lighting static, etc).

Then come back and give us the results.
  8. @reloader-1 I did. the estimate pretty much matches what I have in day to day use. Screen was at 80% not 50% tho. Keyboard is a static, dim, white (black in the chroma editor ;)) with a reactive bright blue on top. All well and good, I'm gonna go with the UHD and probably be happy with it. I could probably also squeeze out some minutes of battery life if I only hit a key every 2 minutes, lower brightness to 10% and only use the laptop at 13,5 degrees celcius, then it would have a perfectly acceptable battery life of almost 4.5 hours, right? ;)
  9. Ok, thanks a lot for your opinion.
Very helpful for my decision :smile_:

    No probelm :)
In case you are curious... here is my battery report for the day. From 10 to 5, with heavy amounts of coding and my keyboard on my custom wave profile,
And my 4k monitor is the Acer BH286K, in my experience gaming in 4k is.... less than satisfying. Games can only look so real, at the end of the day they are still computer graphics that top off at 60fps, and it's disappointing, honestly.
