We already know there is some sort of Blade announcement at PAX West in about a week... It makes no sense to wait until Feb/March as there is already a working prototype Blade 14" with Pascal 1060...

Just because they may announce it doesn't mean it will be available shortly after just keep that in mind! If they do great but I can't see it happening so soon.

Sadly, I agree. BUT, it is essentially a drop in part upgrade, so maybe.

The point is a working model. We didn't see a working early 2016 model until two week after official announcement if I remember correctly.

Also waiting! Seems like the perfect combination of power and portability! Do u guys think the 1060 blade will be launched worldwide or will we Europeans have to wait, as usual?

Do you guys think the razer blade stealth will also be updated at pax?

Naw... that will be a 2017/Kabylake update.

Do you think it's worth waiting or should I get a stealth now?

I had one. Unless you NEED more than 8GB ofor RAM or NEED a quad core cpu, I'd get it now. For light office use (Web browsing, Office, etc), it ran great. Zero complaints.

Consider getting the 1440p vs the 2160p if you want to maximize battery life.

The only caveat I can think of is that if you dont intend to get a RB Core AND you need 5+ hrs of battery life, there may be better options.

The only thing I am sceptical about is the 8GB ram. Do you think it will be enough for a student? (word, chrome, light video making, etc

Also, before I buy I want to know how much smaller the screen is compared to a 13 inch macbook (not exactly how much but rather how much smaller it feels)

My wife has a 13" MacBook. Her screen was noticeably larger.

Do you think the smaller screen size would hit the productivity side of things?? Also I am currently using a 15 inch... I think it would be difficult to readjust

My biggest concern about the GTX 1060 is how bad the thermals are going to be and if there will be significant throttling issues as a result. It appears that Pascal is an amazing chip - if you can keep it cool. Other notebooks and even desktops seem to be suffering from this issue. Historically Razer Blades all run hot, it's their biggest drawback. No matter what else they do with the 1060 Razer Blade, if they manage to keep the thermals in check it'll be a victory.

no it won't, at least in my case it didn't, I've used 14-15 inches laptops and when I went and bought the stealth it didn't bother me that much, the only thing i miss from my other laptops is the numpad even though I didn't use it that much, if she uses it a lot it will be a great hit for her, also the screen is gorgeous, it is the best screen on a laptop i've ever seen.

lol hi 5 for you, i was gonna post the same about that

We've seen an actual prototype of the Blade with a 1060, there is some sort of Blade announcement at PAX West in a week (coincidentally, a few weeks after the Pascal launch..) and you think Razer won't refresh for 6 or more MONTHS?

I don't think it will be 6 more months. They might lose a decent amount of money to the other companies if they wait that long, since everyone who plays PC games is wanting a new 10 series card since they are crazy good. Hopefully the announcement comes at PAX west :)

With the number of threads here, and chatter elsewhere, about QC issues with the Stealth and the Blade, not to mention the number of people that had to wait 2x-4x longer than expected for their original orders of Razer laptops to be fulfilled, maybe it's not the worst thing in the world for Razer to wait to a bit... I mean, if you take a step back this seems to be a company that has a good reputation for producing quality peripherals, however I would imagine it takes a fair amount of time to fully implement the design, engineering and other production processes required to mass-produce high quality PCs and then get them to market in a timely fashion. I guess I'd rather see them get it right than rush something that backfires in way that's severely damaging to the brand and its future in pushing the envelope with gaming laptops, a market I find myself caring more and more about.

Though, to be fair, I am one of those that bought the new 14' Blade this summer so my desire for a 1060 laptop - while real - is probably not as great as some :wink_:.

Yeah thats true. I would rather wait a few more months if it meant that the quality of the blades was going to be a bit higher. There have been a pretty large amount of issues posted on this forums with the new blades and stealth. Lets hope they got all those problems ironed out for this next release!

I would also love to see a source for this confirmed blade info at PAX. I dont ever recall seeing this posted anywhere, and i follow all of razers social media outlets
