this is one of the things i dont care for. there aren't any cables over 6ft soyouhave to keep them close together.

Just opened it up. Here's some photos. Sadly my 980 ti Kingpin doesnt fit with power cables attached. I figured this would happen. Now I just have to wait for the 1080.

The power supply is auto voltage switching btw. It's in the pictures.

Nice man! thanks for this, did you try firing it up with the case split apart like that? or do you have any alternatives till the 1080 is out?

Wow, that's short. Looks like I'll be picking up a longer one soon.

Maybe. But I don't mind waiting another week or two.

Unfortunately there isn't much any of us can do about that right now. Thunderbolt 3 at 40gb/s is limited to .5m, anything longer than that is cut down to 20.

Uh I'm pretty sure its up to 2m not 0.5

Edit: Did some more reading. So passive cables can be up to 0.5M, but active can be much longer.

+1 wondering if you can make sense of the mechanism related to detecting it's closed. Any operation possible while open?

The FAQ suggests you cannot run it opened but I wonder what's involved in circumventing that. I have a 980ti hybrid and i'm sure it won't fit either. Fortunately a co-worker is going to swap me for a 980 for the weekend to test.

My Core is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Will be testing with RBS 4k and the Skull Canyon NUC.

  18. I wonder if you can get L shaped power adapters, if that would work?

What company do you think is going to be the first to adopt this new system?

Yes, Thunderbolt 3 optical cables will also be released this year that will reach lengths of up to 60M, but they won't be cheap!
