I wish I knew that back then. I know a vanguard mate who also bought core x new and I think after you. This is how technology update goes today. About trade in it’s nice if there’s but it’s always sucks price for older hardware better sell it on ebay, look at Apple and GameStop trade in program. Good side it’s stil same TB3 bandwidth, extra PSU watt is for io ports, when I’m not wrong you’ve chroma stand and rtx card? Did you try using usb c on rtx card to power chroma stand. If yes I would like to know if it works or not.
thinking of getting one soon they look cool but price need to save some cash dose someone have one and what are they like on a day to day I have the razer 15 gtx 1060 its good but could do with a bit more power
Looks great! and 700w is very good for the PSU... but (there is always a "but") - the laptop (for instance Razer Blade 15) needs 150w of power to operate so you may still need to plug the converter brick to the laptop, on top of the TB3 cable - adding to GPU and Laptop consumption all the power needed for Chroma features + USB peripherals and you reach the max power the PSU can deliver - Still no space for adding a M2 SSD drive for 399.99 + 59.99 of TB3 cable + import taxes for EU shipping and this solution is seductive but again overpriced. Razer is on the right path, but still, few improvement would still be needed to make this product the best of the market. D8
Hmm, blade 15 port doesn't have charging ability like some other laptops. There's dual TB3 controller each for io ports and you data, for PSU itself it would supply enough for any gpu out there 2080ti consume not 350watt including OC, idk team red but Vega 64 and fury 9 is fine on core x PSU. Blade providing its parts its own power delivery separated from gpu inside the core, so you can't comparing with desktop PSU that supply all PC parts with this egpu setting. 50 Watt extra bigger psu compared to previous core x is for supplying chroma lightning and io ports. Yes extra m2 slot is nice to have. The fan anyway now is easier to mode for adding water cool setting apparently from user reviews on egpu.io which is nice. Other thing to notice any core comes with TB3 cable so you don’t need extra cable unless you want extra longer cable like 2m. Core X is still number one most popular egpu according egpu.io. Import tax and shipping on some EU store price mostly included import tax and shipping for the core price, though the price may be a bit vary according the country and fee may also occur, so far I know UK, French and Germany are free of import tax.
Same I have the 144hz / 8750H / 1060 max q Blade 15 and was thinking of picking this up and possibly putting a 1080 or 2070 in it to use as a dock and for my AW3418DW monitor when at home (which is 90%) of the laptop usage anyway. But wanting to see if other users have had any experience before pulling the trigger
No. High end laptops are meaningless using egpu setting, like 2017 pro model officially only FHD with lower gpu the Gtx 1060 one supports Razer Core, you can use though on high end 4K gtx1080 but with some workaround and performance wise due TB3 bandwidth limitation probably you won’t get a lot boost even with a 2080ti.
This looks so sexy. Looking to get it as mainly a dock for home use and maybe some extra gpu power for my new ultrawide AW3418DW screen at home but waiting for some more reviews or peoples experiences with it before spending $1000+ AUD on it. I had a stealth + core v1 when it first came out and it worked well for a few months then it starting randomly disconnecting for a split second (enough to crash whatever game i was playing). Didnt have the mouse / keyboard disconnect that other people were complaining about. Luckily i managed to rma the core and get a full refund and sell off the stealth on gumtree. I changed to a blade 14 and now a blade 15 (8750 / 1060 maxq / 144hz ) so I didnt have to deal with the disconnect issues as it has its own dgpu and I connect everything through a TB3 Dock that has been working great so far no issues. Anyone thats been using it got any input?
Unfortunately No, it’s only compatible with laptops with Thunderbolt port, for max bandwidth is with current TB3 PCIe3x4 lanes. From first gen Blade 2011 to 2015, it doesn’t have Thunderbolt port.
I have a very nice and well-build desktop PC that I do 98% of my gaming on. However, now that I own the Razer Blade Stealth Pink Quartz I admit that there's some appeal to owning one of these. There are times where I go live at my parent's house for a week or more to babysit their dogs while they travel, normally I pack up my large desktop PC and take it with me, but this seems like a much better option. I could bring my pink keyboard, one of my pink mice (I have both varieties) and one of my pink mouse mats (I have both) along with my Leviathan Mini for sound with the Chroma Core X and it would be much easier to move and travel with than my entire desktop setup.
Yeah, I wish I had the Money to spend. My performance level decreasing fast. Only a 1050Ti in my laptop....
