Razer Core X + Razer Blade 2019 freezing

What's up peeps! I recently bought a Razer Core X (With 2080TI FE) to pair with my Razer Blade 2019 advanced edition (Rtx 2070 max-q) early.

Installing getting it to work was a pain in the butt but I managed to get it working in the end. (Had stopcode 31, had random bsods, or had to reinstall drivers again all of the time if I unplugged it from the razer core x). Tip: if anyone wants to use this combo you have to disable windows automatic gpu updates. else your blade will bsod like crazy.

I'm currently facing a freezing problem which I just can't manage to solve. When I connect the eGPU everything works fine. It detects the GPU, I can switch to my 2080ti with the razer gpu switcher and I can play games without a problem. But whenever I want to use it in Windows. It just freezes randomly and have to hard power reset my razer blade. I noticed this only happens when I connect it to an external monitor with Displayport. The monitor I use is Acer Predator XB241h with G-Sync with 180hz. With HDMI or if I use the eGPU with the internal monitor of the razer blade itself, it doesn't freeze at all. What really weird is that sometimes my other razer hardware just freezes but still works. In example my razer chroma stand and keyboard LED Lights just freeze whenever the eGPU is plugged in. Maybe this is a Razer Synapse problem but it's very noticeable..

I tried reinstalling TB3 drivers, nvidia drivers, turning off intel 630 internal graphics, changing the 3d settings of nvidia to performance. Nothing really worked :slightly_sad: (It doesnt crash when I mirror my internal screen to external monitor though)

Hopefully you guys know some sort of workaround for this problem or suggestions I can try. I literally am pulling my hairs out how broken this 4500 euro setup is at the moment.

Thanks in advance guys!

Cheers

Bumping this up. About to discard my whole eGPU solution and get a desktop again instead. What a waste of money ... 😞
Screw it. Gave up on my eGPU setup for now. Razer Core X is a terrible product with Razer Blade 2019.
Customer Service said do a factory reset. Did that. Still freezes.
So yeah. Be careful to use too much razer products like I did. The more Razer Hardware you own the more problems it will get :(

So salty though. Really was hoping for a solution for this as I love portability. But your products fail to work together.
so no one helped you out with this? or even gave you an answer?

Nope. Razer Support is a joke. Customer Service couldn't help me out or get a proper solution. It all came to this: It's your problem now.

Can't even understand that shit though. Spent like 5000 euro's for this setup. And I was furious against the support team.
Oh well. Rocking a desktop now and sold my Razer Core X bullshit non-working eGPU.

I still can't believe it doesn't work together to this day.

Screw it.

😃

Thanks man!
Do you also own the Core X or only the Blade pro 17?
I mean the laptop works like a charm if you use their official drivers. I had tons of BSOD's by not using their official drivers..

Ive got the laptop which the quality feels great, just a shame that I had to figure out that it needed .Net framework / c++ redistribution / directx runtime Web installer updates to stop it crashing, locking up and giving me the dreaded BSOD.

Now that I've done that it seems to be holding up OK. Just need to stress test it a bit before I feel confident that I don't have to reformat the whole machine!

Good luck my man!
