Razer Cortex Boost Disables Hotspot

Basically, my internet sucks. As such I have to use an ethernet connection to my laptop then use the hotspot on the laptop to connect my phone and iPad, which usually works very well. But when I launch a game and Razer Cortex boosts my system, the hotspot disables itself. I'm guessing this is a setting I can turn off (i.e., stop it optimising this particular service) but I don't know which setting it is.

I know it is the booster as I have turned it on without launching a game and the same thing happens.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hey there!

Thank you very much for your patience!

Regarding your issue, could you please launch your Razer Cortex, tap 'GAME BOOSTER'-'BOOST'-'Services', and disable the feature W32Time? Then, see whether this issue persists.

Please check the attached image, and feel free to let us know if this issue persists after trying the above method.

Hi!

I have tried looking for W32Time but it does not appear on any of my lists (Services or otherwise). I have attached an image of the "Services" tab.

I'm not sure if it is related, but I also sometimes run into an issue with the function keys when playing a game. I have the function keys to primarily use the multimedia keys using the Razer Cortex in-built feature, but sometimes this makes F1, F2, etc unusable and holding the fn key does the same thing as not holding it (increases volume whether fn is pressed or not, for example).

Thanks for your help,

Jack
Hey there!

Thank you for sharing your screenshot with us. It helps us a lot.

After testing, we found that it is the 'SharedAccess' that may cause this issue. Here could you please disable the 'SharedAccess' in BOOST>Services?

Please feel free to let us know if this issue persists. We'd always love to help.

Hi!

I can confirm that this does solve the issue! Thanks so much!

Do you know if there is a solution to the Function Keys problem? It isn't very consistent, like, it isn't always an issue, but it can be very annoying. If not then that's fine.

Thanks, again!
Hey there!

That is great. As to the other issue, could you please let us know more details? We will try our best to help.

Thank you very much!

Have a great day!

Hey!

I can't explain it exactly, but I can give an example. In Rocket League, I use a simple mod that displays extra data and allows me to customise the game a little more. To use the feature I need to press F2. I have each of the F1-12 keys set as multimedia as default, using the Razer Cortex feature, so F2 is volume down by default (i.e., no need to press fn). Whether I press fn with F2 or not, volume always goes down and the mod is not launched. There are other games this has happened to, all without mods, but this is the most persistent.

At first, I thought the games may disable the fn key for whatever reason, but turning off the default multimedia key feature and then using fn works as it should do, so I am unsure of the issue.

Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks!
Hey there!

Could you please let us know which mod you use? Some third-party mods may not be supported in Razer Cortex.
Also, I assume you have two or more shortcut settings using the same shortcut key F2, so, could you please check your shortcut key settings again to avoid such a scenario?

Hi!

Thanks for your help but I soon realised that it didn't just apply to games so turned off the setting, restarted the pc, and turned it on again. I have tried this before but this time it seems to have worked.

Again, thanks for everything!
