A question to the community and the administration team.

What you guys think about some more categories?

Since the start of Razer Insider on Wednesday this week, we created a lot of threads for many different topics and they will be more every day :). Meantime it gots a little bit confused, so i think.

For example, we can create categories for hardware discussions, games => game guids, Razer News and so on.
Like the current subdivision (Community Readme, General Discussions, Razer Nabu News, Razer Nabu Chat)

So how you guys think about it?

Pretty sure there will be more categories later on. Let`s try to look at this from Razer perspective.
Insider was released like 3-4 days ago? The only staff member is Technokat, one guy that has to go through all the posts and topics, answer some questions while probably doing his own work.
And insider is not yet released. As we speak forum is closed to everyone except for us. We`ve got invites to test it, find out if it would work, find bugs, make suggestions (which technokat has to note and send further, @Razer|Technokat brother i hope there`s someone on here to help you with it :slightly_sad:)

There is probably a team of programers working on changes and/or integrating new things. I`d like to remind ourselfs about invitation mail we`ve got few days back:

I say lets give them some time. ;)

@terrortime I don't think that is the issue, the problem here is Razer did too much of a good job and managed to find the top most loudspoken and enthusiastic people in their community and put them in one place and basically said have at it. Really Razer this is on you :D

To be clear, I don't think this motion should be interpreted as a criticism to Razer, but at the same time, ideas should'n't be dismissed simply because the forums are in their infancy.

We should never expect something will be done unless it's specifically stated, so imo discussing how many and what types of categories should be in the forums is a constructive discussion.

Community input on all things!

@wakoquacko haha pretty sure there is few more dudes out there who`d like to say few words about them selfs. :D
But that makes me thing though. As we know every decision at Razer HQ has to go through Chief Gamer hands so hes probably sitting in airplane with his Razer Blade and reading our posts... Omg Chief Gamer has read my post.

This has been addressed in our welcome post and you can certainly expect more sub-forums to come in due time -
However, not at this moment, though you might not have to wait too long. We need to consider how we should be splitting up these conversations and consider any ramifications - - will some sub-forums be better served with just a sticky? Will some sub-forums turn into just a complaints section? (I'd like to also, at this point of time, also point out that if you have any issues with your products, that you raise this to our Support team who can better serve you and you can better track.)

We're also taking this time to suss out the kind of conversations our fans will like to have. Also, there are implementations that we're looking at that is holding back on splitting the forum.

Once we tie down all these things and commit more resources amongst all our community channels, we will start work on new sub-forums.

I'd like to be as transparent as I can here, so if you have any questions feel free to raise this.

Maybe just a couple new broad categories? One for hardware conversations, one for game/software specific conversations and lastly one for things that are completely off topic?

It seems that in most social situations, even on gaming boards, someone eventually brings up something that is not related to the theme; such as holiday well wishes, major news stories (first example that comes to my mind is how all my gaming boards exploded with stuff about 9/11 while it was happening - I was playing in my MMO at the time and that was how I first found out about it), major sporting events like the World Cup or the Olympics... I'm sure there's others but I don't feel like trying to think of them. lol

I dunno, just an idea since that separates things with really broad strokes but still allows people to look for a more targeted subject.

It`s allways good to know from devs what`s going on. If it`s good or bad, but know.

Big Thanks @Razer|Technokat for the answer and detailed information.

I think the Insider community is ready to help Razer with the improving of Razer Insider.

    Thanks. :)

That right there is a big part of having an awesome forum community. I can't stand it when folks are having a way in-depth discussion about something, and the staff who could actually put those ideas to use are just silent and invisible.

When you guys step in to guide a discussion it shows us you're listening and makes our posts feel a lot more valuable.

    +1

There should be also subcategory, in which people can ask for PC peripherals and PC hardware in defined budged, and community can help them. Something like "Tips for purchasers" or so. And one category for "Gaming" where there are just general discussions, but only about games and generally gaming. And how about making subforum for RPG sessions?

Subcategories are a good idea. The community and the admin team think so but Razer Insider need to grow up a little bit more. So subcategories are good but it shouldn't be to much. Actually Razer Insider is in the beta phase. At this phase there will be a lot of changes at Razer Insider and razer is working on this project daily, i think. Let's see what razer will realize and what not.:)

We're definitely looking into this, and over the coming days look to classify and put these threads in order :)

I feel like users would like to have an off topic forum for discussing news and favorite TV shows, suggestions forum, and a razer forum for items particular to razer.

OT note: it would be nice if there was a dark forum theme in addition to the white one. Can't remember if this was addressed or not. The site is fine as is but I don't think it'd hurt to add more.

Oh and compliments on the mobile theme for the forum. It's very nicely done.

I'd like to reiterate the desire for a darker theme. My personal opinion, I'd love something black and green with gray or white lettering. While sitting in my office late at night when everything is somewhat darkened the white is just really glaring.

Really liking the new forums for these reasons:
    • XenForo - MVC all the way
    • Sticks true to the Razer style
    • Simple and fast navigation
    • No avatar resolution limits
What do you guys think of the forums? So far I'm really liking them and the style looks amazing on XenForo.
