    Hi guys!

For days I am torn between the two headsets and cannot make up my mind. I currently have a Chroma build going on (keyboard, mouse, firefly) and would like to complete it with the Kraken 7.1 Chroma. However, I am considering of getting the Forged edition due to the better build quality and for the fact that they have an analog input.

Has anybody tried both headsets to let me know how much better (if at all) the sound quality on the Forged edition is? With which one would you guys go with?.

    Thank you!

I'm not 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure that the sound quality is near enough identical to the standard Kraken headsets. I haven't tried the Forged Edition due to their much higher price tag, but I'm presuming that their extra weight will make them uncomfortable during long periods of gamings. Although the Kraken 7.1 Chroma only works over USB, I recently purchased a pair and am definitely happy. It really depends whether you have headphones/earphones to listen to music on when you're out and about, as I already have good quality headphones

Thank you guys for the input! Basically my idea is that if I get the 7.1 Chroma, I will also be getting a pair of headphones to listen to music from my phone. But if I go with the Kraken Forged, I will be using those both for gaming and for music listening on the go. So at the end I will be spending pretty much the same amount of money.

Is there anybody out there that has tried both to let us know how the sound quality compares?

    Thank you!

I have the Kraken 7.1 Classic (pretty sure the only difference is lighting; sound should be identical) and the Kraken Forged.

The 7.1s are much better suited for gaming. I've found that the sound profile is slightly more base biased than the Forged. Also, the mic on the 7.1 is a positionable extension coming out of the earcup, which is much better for gaming as opposed to the inline mic on the Forged.

However, the Forged are much better suited for high quality and balanced music listening. The sound profile is more balance between highs and lows (still slightly bass biased but not as much as the 7.1). The Forged are also passive and do not signal process (unlike the 7.1 which simulates 7.1 surround sound. I not sure if the the actual headphones do the signal processing or its synapse that does the signal processing.). Another thing to keep in mind is that the forged are more comfortable. They are noticeably more plush than the regular Krakens.

Overall, I love the sound of the Forged for music listening, but I'm not sure how I would like it for gaming. I guess that means you have to go for both :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

i too would recommend the kraken 7.1 chroma for gaming they are comfortable for long gaming sessions. Sound quality is good and the mic is also very good. Hell you could buy a pair of chroma's and a kraken mobile in your choice of color and still be cheaper that the forge. Just throwing it out as an option. Good luck in your quest. :)

I´d go with the Kraken Chroma, for it´s price it´s really epic. Especially sniper shots sound amazing with the bass maxed^^

I went for the Chroma because I had other Chroma products to sync it with. The Forged looks pretty cool but I'd find it annoying not having a built-in microphone

I haven't tried the Kraken 7.1 chroma or the forged before, I have tried the Kraken mobile and pros and I have to say they are bass heavy. If you enjoy music and movies and like the rumbling bass its good. Since the forge has less bass like @jgoodman458 has said it would probably be better for a different genres of music where there are more vocals or instruments.

Wow this is the first i've heard about more forged edition Kraken let alone other forged edition products

And that would be because it's not available in the UK....blegh

I've been using Kraken 7.1 Chroma for the past two weeks, and it's been amazing - both audio and microphone wise. :)

I'd go with the chroma mainly because it will match razer's current line of peripherals. The forged is a 2013 model I believe. So it is a bit older.

    Chroma too.
The forged feels a tad too heavy for me for long session of gaming.

    Plus Digital mic!

Wow - thank you all for your input!

So a friend of mine purchased the Chroma 7.1 and was kind enough to give them to me to try out for a couple of days... The good: 1. crystal clear mic quality. 2. nice bass. 3. very loud compared to the Pros... The bad: 1. when the cable rubs on clothes there is a huge noise transmitted to the left speaker. 2. hissing noise when volume is above 60%. Is that normal or do you think it is a defective headset? Those two things are keeping me from getting the 7.1 Chroma...
