Razer Kraken 7.1 V2 - Mic audio fluctuates

So I just got this headset for Christmas, and it's great so far, except for this one oddity. When I record footage using this headset (with Nvidia's Shadowplay program), the volume of the audio recorded by the microphone fluctuates for some reason.

It never gets obnoxiously loud, but sometimes it'll just get real, real quiet, and then get louder until it's back at "normal" volume again, and then eventually get quiet once more. A lot of the time this happens when I haven't said anything in a while; the next time I speak, it'll be quiet at first and then get louder.

I checked both Windows sound menus and Razer Synapse, and to the best of my knowledge, this mic is not currently set to use volume normalization, so I have no idea what this problem is, or what's causing it. Any suggestions?

Make sure you don't install Razer Surround Sound App. Seems to be a Kraken Mic Killer.

Does that automatically install with Synapse? Because I haven't sought out anything like that, but I'll be sure to avoid it if that's the case.
No, it's a separate download
