Hey guys, just wanted to make a post concerning the ear cushions of the Razer Krakens (and yes, the Razer Kraken Pro applies (and Neons)).
I myself have sorta big ears (and a big head), and the ear cushions on the Razer Krakens seem to irritate my ears quite a lot when I put them on for an extended amount of time.
After a while, my discomfort overtook my laziness, and I simply took two microfiber cloths (eyeglass cleaning cloths), and placed them over the Kraken's ear cushions. This worked for a bit, but resulted in me looking like a fool, and feeling like a fool.
I soon ordered the cloth ear cushions (http://www.razerzone.com/store/razer-ear-cushion), and took off the "pegs" on the bottom, and replaced the leatherette ear cushions with the cloth ones.

    Here are my thoughts:
    Cloth:
    Comfier
    More over-ear than on-ear
    Less noise isolation
Better highs and mids, less bass
Earmuffs (but may get hot in the summer)
    Potential to get dirty
    Leatherette:
    Noise isolation
BASS. Highs are a bit dampened. (Tanks > Opera Singers)
    Cooler on the head (Temperature-wise)
Looks better, Cloth seems a bit over-sized
Hard to use when hair isn't very short (might just be me (male))

So if you'd like to change the sound of your Krakens, or feel like the Krakens are a bit uncomfortable... Try putting microfiber cloths on your ear cushions. If that solves the problem, then consider getting some cloth ear cushions. If the cloths don't fix your problem... experiment around, find a solution, and post it here!

TL;DR Consider cloth ear cushions for Krakens if current(default) ones aren't perfect.

I like the cloth for comfort but they do get a bit dirty with loose dirt, so its up to what your preferences are.

  3. Thanks for this, although leather tends to heat my ears up a lot.

  4. Definitely seen the same, Leatheris indeed heating up the ears, I did add some dacron inside the cushions to add a bit of volume and avoid the ears touching the the flat speaker surface, irritates after a while.
Soft fabric will get dirty, unavoidable, lived thru it with other brand headset prior to acquiring the Kraken Pro, and reason why I didnt change to fabric cover vs leather.
Would be maybe nice to have cushions that have outer leather and skin touching surface in suede, could bridge the gap between design look and non dirt sticking material.

I just bought a kraken pro, but i havnt test it yet. Im using orca for now. So far Orca seems to be very comfortable for long period of gaming and music. It kinda made of velvet cloth i guess.
