Razer Kraken Ultimate 7.1 Sound Quality

So, I bought a Kraken Ultimate yesterday and plugged it in. When watching videos or listening to music, the headset works wonderfully. The moment I use it in a game (Apex Legends being the biggest offender for the purposes of this topic), they sound quality *plummets*. Between muffled audio and sporadic audio cues, this headset is outclassed by just about every single Iow budget headset I've ever used before. I've experimented with several EQ settings to offset the quality dive, but nothing really optimizes the games I play. Audio is just awful across the board. Don't even get me started on attempting to use Spatial Audio in games, that's just a lost cause altogether. Am I the only one experiencing this or is this headset just not great for games that rely on audio cues?

Please try the steps from this article and see how it goes. By the way, does the behavior only happens with Apex Legend? Did you try it while playing other games or apps? If you haven't contacted our Support Team, please submit a case through this link. Otherwise, send me a PM, so I can help you kick-start a support ticket/case number.

No, you're not the only one. I can suggest that having a proper EQ setting will give you the best results. Otherwise, your audio will sound hollow or flat. That is if your EQ and/or Mixer list in Synapse is even working properly. I have Kraken Tournament 7.1 myself. My ongoing issue since Synapse 3 came out of beta is my Mixer list is always empty now. Regardless of whether a game is running or not. I've uninstalled Razer Synapse, even formatted my pc, and started fresh. It's 100% the Synapse software and Razer doesn't seem to know how to address the issue, or even care it seems.

Your best bet for audio is going with a set of stereo hi-fi phones from a reputable brand (by which I mean something like Sennheiser and the like) and do away with anything "gaming", "headset", "USB", "digital", "wireless", and all that kind of stuff. - You need stereo headphones for stereo hearing and a good DAC and /or headphone-amplifier. - Then, indeed, setting the equalizer right is key, with ANY set of headphones, but that requires a lot of trial and error over a span of many hours with a well-trained ear.
Still, tinkering with it can always help and if you're not going for accuracy or "flatness", you can of course tune to preference.
Oh, and don't use any "effect"-stuff like that "spatial" thing and such either. Games and their engines are designed to sound the way they sound and you shouldn't do anything to change that. Any claims of "improvement" with any algorithms and effects is just a gimmick. (There can be exceptions, but those will be few and far between.)

But, again, as an audio-person, I just advise against all these "gaming" things.
Razer might not like to hear that, but companies like these aren't where it's at for proper audio.
The budget you've spent on this headset I would absolutely put towards something from any brand like Sennheiser, beyerdynamic, Audio-Technica, Shure, or anything like that.
Just keep in mind there won't be a microphone and some other things.
