So today i plug in my old sony that i use to play music and receive the update notification. Its a lower end 200 euros phone and it's still getting security updates. Meanwhile this 700 euros phone doesn't have a security update in almost 1 year. Not talking about Pie, just a simple security update. How much work can it be? When i used custom roms on my Htc10, the developers who have other jobs and maitain the roms as a hobby/sidegig always put out the updates a few days (at most) after Google released them. Don't believe that on an very close to stock Android skin like Razer uses, that it would be too much work for some dev on their team to put out the security updates.is it too much to ask or expect from a phone that costs one month work here in Portugal?
Can't help to feel let down by Razer. I took a chance on their first attempt at the phone market, and in return they abandon us. Needless to say that if they don't correct this i will never buy a Razer product again. I took a chance on this phone based on my positive past experience with the brand, that is changing each day that passes.
There's no reason not to maitain a phone that I'm actually very happy with,and still performs great. But it starts to feel unsafe to have my bank app on a phone without security updates for 1 year.
May this be a stark reminder to anyone thinking of buying a Razer Phone, they will abandon you shortly after you part ways with your hard earned cash.

Unless you have some special access to Razer, there's no OTAs for almost 1 year. It's the phone I use daily,i check regularly.
But hey, there's a chroma keyboard app with lights and and all. Guess they are too busy to put out an simple security update.

The worst part of all this is almost zero word from Razer.... "It's coming" doesn't feel truthful at the moment. Still on the Razer Phone 1, and while it gets the job done, Razer could at least give us security updates. I mean the last update was right before the Razer Phone 2, the security update included was already a few months old.
Looks like Razer have abandoned their mobile division altogether.
Absolutely shocking that us RP1 users haven't had a Security update in nearly a year, I can live with not having a new Android update, but security updates are a must.
Couple that with the constant freezing, bugs, crashing that I experience on an almost daily basis,
Looks like I shall be moving on to ASUS ROG or Nubia Red Magic 3.

They didnt made a toaster, they made a smartphone, and it needs maintenance and security updates from the manufacturer. They are failing every single person that believed in the brand and bought their first attempt at a smartphone.

Moved on, glad I did that was the only way to solve all the software issues I was having
I just wanted to follow up and let everybody know I checked for updates and there was no Pie for my Razer Phone 1.
I bought the razer watch, razer TV and I have the blade with the razer switchblade. All abandoned projects littered with issues. I just got the Razer Phone 2, I'm a supporter I guess. If it flops it flops.

Some phones aren't able to handle the newer versions of Android, and Razer probably doesn't have the ability to properly implement it quickly enough. Years ago my brother's super old Sony phone got an Android update but my relatively newer HTC phone didn't. Might wanna look into doing it manually.
I just sold my Razer Phone 1 for the Satin 2. Call me a sucker but, she is gorgeous. Hopefully when they relocate software engineers to their new corporate HQ they are able to settle down and commit to OS updates.
