Damn i got the same feeling!
i just noticed yestrday my razer phone 2 got a little bloated, i only used it as a gaming phone when i was around the house, never as my main phone, but it stayed most of the time in a wireless charger which i guess was the main cause.

I'm sorry to see that. :slightly_sad:

You (unless under warranty) will unfortunately have to go third party repair.
hello razer, any shop malaysia to get new batery for razer phone 2?
I don't know that I would agree this should only be covered under a warranty. Batteries overheating (which can potentially cause fires) are a safety issue. I thought I was the only one, but it looks like a lot are doing this all at the same time now. This feels more like a recall issue at this point. At the very least, I'd like my phone replaced or fixed for free.

A recall is the only way, it seems, anyone is gonna get to be able to safely replace these non replaceable batteries. Then have the joy of continuing to use their otherwise perfectly good expensive electronic.

It's impossible to find a battery replacement on a lot of devices, because the original battery was usually special custom made and sometimes impossible to find a match third party. And if you do, it's usually Chinese and fake/false/unsafe.

I believe all batteries on cells should be user replaceable, with the device manufacturer providing sales of official and safe battery replacements.

Its beyond stupid that all these pricey little devices go dead within a year or two-ish, just because of the battery. Batteries are usually built in now to save the manufacturer money. Sooooooo much trash is created, and waste of money.

I think I heard the EU is trying to put a stop to it (non replaceable batteries.) Might not be true. Let's hope.

This is a huge step forward, doesn't help us though.

They did already slap apple in the face forcing them to unify USB plugs with the rest of us. Tons less waste there.
So no response from Razer on this issue? I woke up this morning to my back cover being popped up and the battery swollen. Put it on the charger last night and this morning it's all swollen. Unit still turns on and such, but paranoid of using it now so I turned it off completely
The best way to contact Razer about this is to go directly to their support options. I'm not sure if they check the forums much.

Unfortunately, this is a very common issue with Li-on batteries. I've had this happen on a previous phone (Droid 4). The best way to minimize the risk of this happening is to avoid overcharging the battery (avoid charging it to 100%, avoid charging it overnight, etc.).

Sadly, nearly all phone manufacturers make their batteries non-user replaceable. Likely because it cuts costs (for one reason) and that it allows them to make the phones thinner (for two). As a lot of people replace their phones every couple of years (or even every year for some people!), longevity of the battery life doesn't seem to be much of a concern for many.
Regrettably, many manufacturers follow Apple's anti-consumer practices, since Apple fans constantly show they'll accept whatever garbage Apple gives them. So, manufacturers figure, why bother making something better? I think the biggest blow was when Samsung (easily the biggest manufacturer) stopped making replaceable batteries in their flagship phones.

There's just no avoiding it at this point, I'm afraid. If it's not possible to get the battery replaced through Razer support, then you may want to contact local repair shops to see if they can do it.
I didn't get any response from Razer support, I found this on eBay but it's out of stock.

After close to 2 years of ownership and the battery at about 47% of its original full charge strength, I replaced it with this one at a very good price.

It's combined with the wireless charger coil and vibration components so its an easy exchange.
