Razer Phone 3

Tja, ich glaub die Nachfrage nach dem RP3 ist genau so, wie bei Apple die Akku Threads. Jede Woche liesst oder hört man was. Die letzte Info war mal im anderen Thread hier, dort wurde wohl erklärt das Razer entweder keins mehr macht oder aber nur noch alle 2 Jahre.
Ich denke, da kommt nichts mehr. Die Sparte wird wohl eingestellt.

Well, I think the demand for the RP3 is just like Apple's battery threads. Every week you read or hear something. The last info was once in the other thread here, there was probably explained the Razer either does none more or only every 2 years.
I don't think there's anything left. The division is likely to be discontinued.

Ja ist eine Art "Razer" aber halt auch nicht. Würde mir auch gerne ein RP3 holen, daher warte ich noch bis Sommer 2020 und entscheide mich dann. Aktuell fahre ich mit meinem Galaxy S10 + ganz gut.

Yes, it's a kind of "Razer" but it's not. Would also like to get me an RP3, so I wait until summer 2020 and then decide. Currently I'm driving my Galaxy S10+ quite well.

That's what I'm thinking too. Especially with the Junglecat being released, I don't feel they wouldn't have made that if a new RP wasn't in the works.

The 5G talk is just an excuse. Think about it. What are the reasons the phone department got downsize or axed? Poor sales, poor quality that resulted in high RMA, purely for gaming but impractical for daily use and too many alternative out there that are much faster and better quality?

My take would be either they are back to the drawing board and taking a deep reflection how can they develop a better customer experience (QUALITY) learning from their competitors (Rog, black shark, etc). This cannot be rushed and would take longer time. Or they have given up as a failed venture and back to building peripherals. I hope it's the former.

Well looks like they've removed the RP2 from the website. Why make so many products (mobile controllers, headphones, cases) that will work with the RP2 just to remove it? I get that they work with other manufacturers. But marketing everything with a RP2 inside and not being able to buy it direct from Razer is kind of a slap to the face.

5G is not practical. It's limited range is enough to avoid it right now. I think it's pointless to tailor everything for 5G when it's not ready. All phone manufacturers should be avoiding it / ignoring these carriers that keep trying to push it until they actually have a network in place. It's such a waste of resources and R&D time fiddling with something 98% of the customers will not be able to use for several years and by the time the get the chance to use it... they'll be upgrading to a new device.

To be fair, there are different levels of network signals referred to as "5G". Low-, mid-, and high-band frequencies, which vary greatly in terms of coverage and speed.

AT&T and Verizon have started with their rollouts of their high-band 5G networks (known as mmWave/millimeter wave). These high-band networks bring VERY fast connections (real-world tests have resulted in speeds between 1-3Gbps!)... but each tower can barely reach a mile in coverage, and the signal can't go through walls or most types of glass. High-band networks are basically expanding one block at a time...

Sprint has rolled out its mid-band 5G network. Something in the middle, each tower covers several miles, but speeds seem to cap out at around 480Mbps (which is still great, if you ask me).

Lastly, T-Mobile has rolled out its low-band 5G network. While it offers the slowest speeds at around 225 Mbps (still a lot better than 4G LTE), and the greater reach of low-band towers has allowed them to nearly match their 4G coverage rather quickly. Plus, the low-band signals permeate buildings a lot easier. If the merger between T-Mobile and Sprint goes through (which, frankly, I kinda hope doesn't), they'll be able to utilize both existing low- and mid-band networks for more coverage overall, and faster speeds in the metro areas.

So, 5G IS viable now... at least, T-Mobile's low-band network.

Plus, apparently Qualcomm is REQUIRING all phone manufacturers that go with the Snapdragon 865 to include their 5G modem in the device. So... basically, every high-end phone this year will be a 5G phone.

So, I really hope Razer doesn't give up. I really love the Razer Phone 2 as it is, but of course there's still room for improvements.

Watched Razer's 2019 annual results yesterday. It was stated several times that they exited the mobile handset business in 2019. Looks like they will focus on peripherals and cloud gaming on the mobile side.
