Razer Pro 17 4K (2020) Black Screen Issues

Hello

I am having an issue with my device that the screen will randomly go black. The system is still running, fans are running but I cannot get it to come back. This happens when it goes into sleep mode and the occasional restart. I would have to press down the power button and reboot the computer and then works again. So far it has happened about 12 times today, something is definitely wrong. I have had the laptop for a few weeks now and it just started happening.

I have the latest Nvidia Drivers
Latest BIOS 1.4 Driver
Latest Windows Update Drivers 2004

Thanks in Advance for the help!

With the new NVIDIA driver 456.38 my Pro 17 4K won't recover after screen saving. The black screen doesn't go away until forced reboot. External monitor doesn't work either. Fallback to 452.06 and everything is working. What driver version are you using?

I am on the same boat.. nVidia 456.38 and black screen issues when booting up after the laptop has ben shutdown for a while. Right now nVidia released a 456.55 Driver which i am downloading to see if it solves the problem before reverting back to an old version.

Mine is a Razerblade 15 4K 2070 Rtx
456.55 has the same issues for me, once the screen goes black, it won't recover until next reboot.

I updated The synapsis and Intel drivers as well, if that doesnt help I’ll go back to the old version.
I'm having this issue as well with all of the most recent drivers. I can't revert though since I JUST had my laptop delivered yesterday.

I updated the Bios to 1.03 and i am on the latest Nvidia Drivers and latest Intel Drivers.

So far this is not happening for me, at least not recently.
I can confirm my Bios is updated as are all Nvidia and Intel drivers and this is still a VERY frustrating issue for me. Is this the board?

Black screen after hibernation still an issue. 452.06 last working driver.

452.06 is still doing it for me when booting up the laptop. In fact, the last time it stopped doing it was when i updated the BIOS to 1.03.

It was working perfectly fine with the latest Nvidia Drivers at the time. After a few Nvidia and intel updates it started doing it again.

NOW i updated the BIOS to 1.06 and it stopped doing it. My guess is that the Updates on Nvidia Drivers or the Intel Drivers somehow glitch the BIOS into doing this. That is my theory based on the behavior that i have experienced so far with this bug.
If you update the BIOS or reinstall the BIOS it should resolve the issue until you update the Drivers and glitch whatever is causing this again.
For my model there is no BIOS newer than 1.04 available, This BIOS fixed the general black screen issue until NVIDIA got past 452.06. Then the black screen returned but only after hibernation. So waiting for the BIOS update that fixes this issue now.

Re-install the same BIO and test it out.

Not possible, tells me only, that the actual version is installed.
This issue has been going on since August for me with my blade pro late 2019 model 4k 120hz screen, and for owners of the 2020 model, when is this going to get fixed ???

if you re-install the BIOS it actually fixes the issues no matter what version is. It got fix on 1.03 and then when Nvidia updated drives it happened again.

I installed the 1.06 BIOS and its fixed, i have not updated Nvidia Drivers again so idk if this version fixes the issue forever. But so far is not happening for me.

My advise:
Update the Drivers first then Update or reset your BIOS.

I am using the latest bios for the late 2019 model blade pro which is 1.04, I've tried fresh installs of windows and keep trying every new driver update that comes out before reverting back to the last one that didn't cause this issue (452.06) and as far as i know there is no way to reinstall the bios. If you know of one then please share it.
It's on razer to fix this or issue a new bios update, there is no excuse for us not being able to update the graphics drivers for months now on their most expensive laptop.
I nor you paid $3800+ for a laptop to not be able to update drivers, have to be forced to use an external monitor, or not be able to run some of the latest games because we can't update drivers.
I agree!

I read online that there is a way to RESET the current Drivers. I have not done it but once the laptop starts it shows the Razer logo and i think F12 for BIOS settings etc. You can look it up to find the steps needed to reset.

Try downloading the BIOS to an external Flash drive just in case.

that bios only fixed certain black screen issues, but not the one where it would go to a black screen from rest mode, or with certain resolution changes.

Never had any of those issues. My issue was with a black screen when booting up the laptop.
dude that issue is what this thread is about not the boot to black screen issue, the bios updates fixed the boot to black screen update pretty quickly a day or two after it appeared, we're all frustrated because that issue was fixed quickly and this isn't still even though they acknowledged it.

That being said thanks anyway for trying to help.
ok just updating here that the new 460.79 driver does not fix this, I've done a clean install of the driver after using driver cleaner in safe mode.
Razer Blade Pro 17 4K (late '19) - BIOS 1.04 - NVIDIA game ready driver 460.79

Can confirm that the problem still exists.
After closing cover and reopening, the screen stays black like all other versions after 452.06 and hibernation of the screen. Reverting back to 452.06 again.
Yeah that's what I was saying, I went a step further and completely cleaned the old driver from my system before trying the new one and the problem is still there
