Apparently, it will void you warranty. Talked with the staff, over the chat and he said individual who are willing to open the laptop will need to get permission from support team. I was gonna order 2tb of 960 pro and I sent in the email to support team for permission (Really, for m.2 SSD I need permission? What the..)

Seems like they solved it, I recall reading something about them having copper plate inside.

You will only void your warranty if you break something. Replacing the SSD doesn't void the warranty by itself.
I posted the email I received from Razer concerning the warranty many times on Insider.

Found one of these sais posts in here :

At least staff claim that opening laptop will void warranty as said in their website. Which made me think whhhuuuttt? Like I said, staff told me to go get "permission" and approval from the support team before I install easy as hek SSD installation so I did. Waiting for replies from support. I hope they give me permission to do so lol

Preordering 1tb or 2tb samsung 960 pro soon

I'm pretty sure their answer will be something like what they told me

but "breaking something" included a defective SSD that fries your M.2 connector :cool_:

and make sure to keep the old drive in case you need to RMA your Blade

It better be, logically speaking since SSD installation can't really go wrong. Staff started with saying that opening will void warranty, period. Than I mentioned what about these warranty laws and opening, modifying it shouldnt void warranty for the stock components until its proven that my upgrade, mod whatever led to some machine failure. Than staff told me just go get a permission from support team I'm like, ok.. lol
I think its funny how consumer needs to ask permission whether they can upgrade SSD or not. Maybe I already voided my warranty on my blade stealth that I opened up, upgraded with 950 pro 512gb few months back without their permission (its perfectly fine, working great with my core and titan xp)

You guys have more money than I do to be able to get the PRO 2TB

@hsmyung93 are you using the USB and Ethernet ports on the Core? if so, how well are they working? More specifically for the USB ports, are you using them with external drives?

I dont use ethernet ports, and I only got razer turret for my peri. It doesnt work well but plugging extender for 2.4ghz signal, it works fine now. I never tried external harddrive on it so i cant tell :/ Other than that, I cant talk about performance and stuff cause I dont see many titan xp owners using core other than me.

Yeah USB 3.0 hubs and 2.4ghz adapter don't play well together without an extansion.

I'm just wondering how big of a performance hit it would be to connect 2 external SSDs

  13. New Polaris pm 961 will run cooler almost as fast and half the price

Seriously you will not be able to tell the difference in usage only some synthetic bench

Or if you have to have the ultimate get an sm961
Basically an oem version of the pro

Samsung are properly ripping people off with the pro bull crap

It's obviously your money and I don't mean to sound rude btw but,

I sold my pro's got twice the space now can't tell any difference.

SM961 and 960 pro was predicted as a same product, but in fact its not.

  16. Thing is note in that review you posted "where it throttled due to high temperatures in our desktop testbed"

So they experienced throttling on a test bed! Imagine it in a blade as soon as you go for a big file transfer like a 10gb blue ray rip or similar you will hit HDD Speeds due to throttling same nightmare I had with my 950's

I changed out mine on 3 systems to the cheaper so called inferior PM 951 & 961 variants and got better performance in the laptops

Can't tell any difference in use Windows load exactly the same just as fast, games and programs same. The real kicker is large file transfers are much faster

Only concern if I get sm961 would be driver support :/ I will look in to throttleing and come back

  18. Buy from somewhere you can return easily like Amazon then if you can't install it successfully just return it

It's gonna work though it's the same as what razer msi dell asus all use them.

They give it the "retail drivers" n all that to sell people on pro make you think your getting something special with a fancy sticker on

Reviews say sm961 does not have proprietary drivers and reason behind 960 pro having issue is due to windows 10 so far? I will still look into how its better than sm961 but I don't usually care about cost to benefit ratio, if its better its better. Thanks for letting me know tho, better to make sure so that its not a trouble maker later on :D
