[Review] AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution.

Summary.

- Introduction.

- What is FSR?

- Supported Graphics Hardware.

- List of compatible games.

- My PC computer characteristic.

- Chernobylite review.

- Cyberpunk 2077 review.

- My conclusion.

Introduction.

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) is a new technology that I wanted to test on my PC as my computer is old to see if I can smoothly optimize next-gen games.

This test will also be useful for Razer Blade Laptops with Nvidia 10/16 series GPU as well as all computers with old graphics cards.

We will thus discover if technology keeps these promises and that it does not degrade quality too much by using games: Chernobylite and Cyberpunk 2077 with patch 1.5 released in February 2022 (I am so happy 😊).

FSR also optimizes the performance of high-end AMD graphics cards when doing Ray Tracing.

But unfortunately I could not test this, so do not hesitate to add your review and experience to enrich this topic.

Thank you and good reading. :)

What is FSR?

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) uses opensource cutting-edge upscaling technologies to help boost your framerates on compatible AMD and Nvidia graphics cards.

To explain how it works easily, your game is calculated in low resolution then upscaled to high resolution.

For example 720p upscaling to 1080p, 1080p upscaling to 2K/4K.

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0 offers 6 adjustment modes.

Auto, Ultra Quality, Quality, Balanced, Performance and Ultra performance.

I only used Ultra Quality mode to have no loss of quality.

Ultra Quality is beautiful as in native mode when FSR is disabled.

This technology does not require installation of any specific driver on your operating system, games must simply incorporate FSR or with patch.

Are you using AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution?

My conclusion.

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0 is a total success for me on my desktop computer.

I'm impressed, I gain +30% performance for free with graphics quality without any degradation.

Yet I don't have any AMD hardware, I have INTEL CPU and NVIDIA GPU.

Congratulations AMD, I love you, you have created an open source technology useful for greatest number.

Old Razer Blade computers will be able to find a new youth, I am sure.

Tell me comments what you think of FSR.

Do you know this technology?

Do you enable AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0 on your games with your Razer Blade or PC?

Nice, but still only few games supports it. Hope it'll change in future.
Nice analysis, but none of the games I play are listed, nor can I run any of these games :frown_:

I really am too potato for current generation of games.

If that was cheaper in laptop with the same consistent quality I will give a try
Userlevel 7
I would like to try but no money
Userlevel 7
Anything with smaller, cheaper, and no much heat will be consider

I have GTX 1060 and use FSR in few games like Dying Light 2, but i want to buy a RTX 3060 or 3060 Ti for the DLSS.

Currently statistics show~

Are Radeon GPUs really that 'bad' compared to nvidia?
Userlevel 7
I had no clue they are up to something like this..Is it a program "booster" or a platform like geforce now?
Userlevel 7
Very good info. Thank you Natachat90!
Userlevel 7
Will just add one more vote "because using DLSS"
