Long story short, my laptops onboard RTX 3080 out performs Asus ROG Strix 3090 OC Edition in Razer Core X Chroma

Now for some stats:

Chassis Model: Clevo X170KM-G
CPU: 11900F
128GB Corsair 2666MHz SODIMM DDR4 (4 x 32GB)
RTX 3080
2TB SAMSUNG 980 PRO M.2
WINDOWS 10 PRO 21H1 19043.10.81

I work in tech so i have access to lots of various hardware, i tested multiple 3090s, 3080, in multiple razer core x enclosures, put the 3090s in functional seperate desktop towers

The cards work as they should, but not in the razer core x
The start of the problems were drivers:

Figured that it only works properly when you connect the thunderbolt cable into the laptop after windows boots up

Now onto gaming and FPS, i used lots of various tools, ie 3DMark, GPU-Z, CUDA-Z

Games like Horizon Zero Dawn run at around 70fps on the onboard 3080, whilst on 3090 it runs around 40-50fps

I tried:
disabling onboard gpu so only the external runs
only use external monitor connected to external gpu enclosure
Various different drivers (yes i used Display Driver Uninstaller between installations)

to keep results consistant i always use the same monitor for output, with same graphics settings, using Horizon Zero Dawn as benchmarking (i also tried 3DMark)

I tried various cables to make sure they are capable of 40gbps, and checked with "Cuda-Z" utility for speed,

Updated the 3090 GPU Bios so that the "Resizeable bar" feature is enabled

The only thing that stands out is the Bus Interface:

The onboard is running at: x16 4.0
whilst 3090 is running at: x4 3.0

What is everyones take on this? I have other desktop systems that run fine but I have this laptop that i would like to use with the razer core x chroma for mobility when im on jobs where i have to travel etc
