Do you think I will have a chance getting moved up from May 18th to sooner since I preordered awhile back?
I was looking on the razer blade page and it says that everything ships from the 18th...

If I don't get moved up I am thinking about canceling my order and ordering again with some of the razer reward promos.

But i don't know if it's worth it.
  2. What are the chances the New Razer Blade 14 2016 being delayed is because the next generation of Nvidia GPU's, the Pascal series, is expected to launch in mid May or June? Or is that really only something we can anticipate for the Razer Blade Pro series?

Personally, with the Nvidia Pascal GPUs being reported 10x more powerful than the Maxwell series, being projected to launch soon (even before computex), I'd most certainly want it for a $2,000+ Premium Gaming laptop over the GTX 970m W/6GBVRAM. I'd want it far more, even if I had to pay more.

The chances of it having a pascal are 0 to none. If you really want a pascal graphics card in a razer device, just buy the core.

Thats why I'm still undecided to buy the Razer, if i buy it now, i will get it like the 20th of may, maybe in june there will be a laptop with pascal for the same price

  5. I agree. The Pascal GPUs will likely be announced and set to ship to the consumer market in May or June, rumored with up to 16GB VRAM. When I receive my New Blade 14 sometime between the 18th of May and on, it'll already be the Old Blade 14. And at a premium price.

The problem is that there is no other brand that make laptops with the build quality and design close to the level of the Blade

They have barely announced the desktop class pascal gpus. It will be at least 2-3 months untill they announce mobile pascal gpus, another 2-3 months untill they start shipping, and another 2 or 3 months after that untill they get put into a laptop. And there is no guarantee that the laptop will be good build quality, it could just be thrown togher to attempt to appease the customer.
I prefer a tried and true gpu that will last for several years in an amazing machine, rather than an untested laptop that does not even exist as of now, and probally wont be made untill either the fourth quarter, or even next year.

Ill just get a core and ride out the waves of gpus, even the pascal will get outdated eventually.

0%, they have not announced anything about the blade pro.

That number 10x more powerful, was quoted as "CEO Math". I think based on the benchmarks I saw that were leaked you are looking at 30% performance gain, and way way less power draw. For mobile, 970m vs 1070m if that exists I think you are looking at 15-20 fps increase in games like the witcher III realistically.

I also think we will not see a pascal blade until next year when we all ride this train again.

  9. My guess is like September would be earliest for a possible Pascal laptop and that's pushing it. More like end of the year will we sort of see Pascal in laptops. Not many are just going to quickly refresh with Skylake chips again just with Pascal/Polaris.

  10. Thank you everyone for the comments. I'll just keep my preorder active and "ride this train again" next year, lol. More likely I'll wait a few years, which is another strong reason I love the concept of graphics enclosure utilizing TB3, like the Core.

On that front, is the Core reasonably priced, seeing it's just an GPU enclosure for $499 minus the $100 discount? My preorder is for the New Razer Blade 14 512GB. Since it has the Nvidia GTX 970m with 6GB VRAM, buying the Core now doen't seem necessary. Am I better off waiting a year (or two) to buy it at a discounted rate?

I would suggest waiting a few years for a few more iterations of the core, and it will most likely become cheaper. The 970m should be enough to last around 2-4 years, so there is no rush to get the core.

You also have to remember Razer laptops retain their value very well. If you do a quick search on Ebay you will see blades around 1000-1300 dollars on the resale value. That makes upgrading to a newer model less painful.

If you want to take advantage of the core credit buy it now and pop a pascal card in it once the new cards are on shelves June-July. You are still looking at around 800-1000 investment in a card and enclosure. However, once you have the core it should be compatible with any machine you have in the future.

  13. That's true. The Core will be compatible with future Razer laptops, and perhaps with any TB3 compatible device.

And the price is probably not going to drop any time soon.

At this point, I just want to ask if someone already got their hands on the preorder units?
  16. I want this thing so bad. It's driving me crazy. I'm still nervous about my Division code. I still never got an email about that and supposedly they expired last week?
  17. 970M will be great for probably at least 1-2 years. To be honest, most of the world is probably just waiting for iGPU 550/580 where you have good battery life and can game like League of Legends or less heavy games.

Thing is, at least we know 970M is reliable. Pascal/Polaris, we probably won't see until the end of this year in laptops. Just because they're coming out in 1-2 months doesn't mean much when companies probably have to test, then wait a few months to make a "new" refresh model when they probably made 1 earlier this year.

The Core doesn't seem necessary unless you're going to play really high res and high settings. But I'd probably wait a year or so for good Pascal chips when we know they're smooth before popping 1 in a core

Honestly the core is good for getting VR ready.

I am still waiting to see the reviews. So far, I have not seen any posted.

I know it made a lot of people mad that Rahul Kohli got a blade before all the shipments went out. But as he said in is post it was hand delivered when to me was a good sign.

It meant that Razer has these in stock! And also supports Techokats post that they have pallets of them getting ready for shipping. It also takes some time to print labels set up tracking and all of that then start applying labels.

An unfortunate fact of life is that celebrities will always be treated better than consumers. It is just how it is. I like Rahul he is awesome on iZombie and think it is cool he is getting one.

Now it is time to just sit back and obsessively refresh my inbox for my tracking number.
