You would get better fps if you use external display, not internal one.

  4. I get around 90 max settings (minus foliage distance on high or w/e instead of very high). I have a 980ti though??

Alright thanks so much for posting about all this and helping us out. Can you do us one more favor tho. If you run witcher 3 on it at 3200*1800 does it drop in fps because of the cpu is bottleneck Inf wouldn't your fps remain the same at an even higher res?

At native resolution, I get 30-35 FPS in busy areas.

Thanks a lot! I ask because I'm trying to figure out if the core can provide viable 4K gaming.

  9. The 1080 is still not listed as a "supported" GPU. Maybe a firmware update to the Core would unlock performance?

  10. This is what I was thinking. After I asked about the code extension, the rep told me they hadn't begun testing their 1080 so they weren't sure if it would work or how well it would. I might consider holding off playing some games that give confusingly low amounts of performance until there is an official firmware and blade software update, sorry to say.

Let's hope an update would fix that. Idk if it is my card or the Core. It felt like the GPU was barely stretching its legs but the FPS was still very low.

Are any other games struggling? I'll have to get my hands on Witcher 3 and see what happens with my Stealth + 1070. Doom has been running ~55-60fps on ultra 1440p. I just updated my TB3 driver to the one that was just released for the SkullCanyon NUC to see if it will make any difference.

I got the same msg that the codes have been extended to Aug 12. I assume that includes all the old codes before June 17 so you don't have to email them asking about expiration.

I think with Witcher 3 the cpu is bottlenecking more at 1080p and 720p with max settings, but at super QHD resolution and above the GPU also becomes a bit bottlenecked.

Just confirmed this with a friend who uses an EVGA 1080 SC. On Witcher 3 1080p max everything, you would barely hit 60 fps even on external monitor. Mostly 45-55.

    Disappointed. One word for this.

  15. What cpu's do you both have? I am playing with 100 in most areas with it getting closer to 60-70 in the new dlc's big city on my 980ti and 3820@4.0. Maybe it's a driver issue with the new card alternatively?

  16. As someone who has yet to be able to order the Core..but is very interested in being able to order one..

Is the following the correct summary? Rightnow the Core doesn't seem to be compatible w/ the 1080 cards, however presumably one of the supported cards (ie 1070) should have better performance? Or is this more in line w/ that the Core just doesn't deliver much performance improvements for current/newer games?

  18. I guess it could be cpu bottleneck then. I would play with hairworks off.

Hair works on/off makes less than 5 FPS difference. And the CPU was never at more than 70%load

Was hairworks on all characters in the game?
