Swelling Battery | Razer Insider

Swelling Battery

Hi,

I've used a Razer Blade 2018 Advanced Model for work for the last two years. It's been having a lot of overheating issues and is almost always throttling due to overheating. Now the battery is swelling, or so I assume because the touchpad is being pushed up over time by something. It's now hard to click the touchpad, and the laptop won't close fully as it's resting on the bulge.

Razer won't even let me file a support ticket because the warranty has expired.

What are my options? Can I get a replacement battery somehow? I'm fairly technical, so I might be able to install it myself.

Purchased in EU by my company on SEP 2018.

I just realized my razer blade 2018 advanced is having the same issue. I just got it one year ago. I already had to change 2 power chargers and now this.

Not sure if we should replace battery or what's the solution in here.
Please help
UPDATE

I was told in a separate post that I could send a PM to an official Razer Support account if I should opt to send in the laptop. /swollen-battery-razer-blade-15-advanced-mid-2019-2070-maxq.60363/#post-601465

I saw price quotes for a send-in-repair-send-back procedure in another post, and the price was something like $99 for diagnostics and repair + battery cost. But it seemed to take a long time to get it repaired.

This is the only computer I have access to for work at the moment so I can't be without for that long. I ordered a third party battery, and I'll attempt to replace it myself.

I removed the swelling battery and I'm running only with the power adapter, to reduce the risk of a fire or explosion.

It's worth noting that batteries are also not covered by the extended warranty (I can't find the source now, but I found it in another battery post).

Thanks for the heads up. I replied to your PM as well.
@Razer.SpeedCr0ss I can't reply to the ticket conversation anymore, and I could also not send a new message regarding the issue.

Hi there! I've replied to your PM. Also, I've forwarded your case to the Support Team. Feel free to send me a PM should you need additional assistance.
@Razer.SpeedCr0ss I’m on the Razer Blase Base 2018 and seem to be have a swollen battery. Under a year old purchased from you and had BIOS loop and DPC Watchdog Violation at first, then I noticed the trackpad wasn’t clicking and is semi-raised. Only use a mouse. Could the track pad cause driver issues?

Hey inputmethod! Sorry to hear about your trackpad's state. And yes, this issue is caused by a swollen battery. If the laptop is still within its limited warranty period, Razer can help your send the unit to undergo a repair. Please send the following:

State/Province:
Postal code:

Also, send me a photo or video showing the issue. Save the files via Google Drive or to any online drive account, then paste the link in your PM. Let's continue from there.
Thanks @Razer.SpeedCr0ss, chatting to a few people that all require that info for an RMA. Surprised it’s not link to the serial the first time I gave the info. Also any idea if there are long term issues as a result of the incident and reoccurring battery swelling, it’s been under a year? Newer models have this QC rectified?

I see. Razer will have it investigated. However, there are also other factors why battery wears out fast and bloats. Please send me your email address or case number via PM so I can check your contact history. Let's continue from there.
