Synapse 3.0, Orbweaver 2.0, and Headsets! (Letter to Razer)

    Dear Razer,

    I really love Razer products. Everything made by Razer is completely reliable and betters your gaming experience. However there are some things that I feel a lot of us really want and/or need.

    Synapse 3.0 is great. I've only recently gotten into PC gaming but I immediately started picking up Razer hardware to play with and not everything has gone as good as I'd hoped. I bought an amazing Kraken headset the first week and an equally amazing Naga Trinity mouse the week afterwards only to discover that they are from different generations and are incompatible due to being from different generations of products. Apparently some products only work on Synapse 2.0 (legacy) and some newer products work on Synapse 3.0. This becomes extra inconvenient when you consider that all Razer products, regardless of generation, come in boxes that look identical and mention nothing about what version of Synapse they are supported on.

    I was getting ready to buy an Orbweaver keypad but needed to do some research to figure out which version of Synapse it was supported on. Unfortunately it was only supported on Synapse 2.0 so now I will not buy it since I know that it will be incompatible with any gear I buy in the future. I also wanted to return my obsolete headset to Wal-Mart so that I could instead get a ManO'War headset for a few dollars more but that is also only supported on Synapse 2.0 so I won't buy that either. In fact, there are currently no headsets that are listed as being supported on Synapse 3.0.

    It seems very obvious that the days of Synapse 2.0 are numbered or at least confined to only working with older generations of Razer products, so I, and probably a lot of other inconvenienced gamers, feel that some changes need to be made, not only to please all Razer customers but to also keep this brand alive and well and on top of the PC gaming market. Either Synapse 3.0 needs to be backwards compatible for all devices or some new products need to be made for Synapse 3.0. Many customers, including myself would love to buy a new Orbweaver keypad that has the new Opto-Mechanical switch technology, so there is definitely a market for that and maybe even a demand for ManO'War headsets that are directly USB without all the adapters.

    P.S. If you could, please distinguish the different generations of products or add labels on the product packaging so that customers can know which version of Synapse the products are supported by.

    A Razer Orbweaver V2 and a Razer ManO'War V2 compatible with Synapse 3 software are two products that I really want Razer to make. With the release of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, around now would be the perfect time to release them. I would upgrade to a Razer Naga Trinity just to complete this set.

    P.S.
    A Razer Panthera Chroma that is compatible with Synapse 3 would also be amazing. Give that one a Namco Noir layout option in addition to the standard Taito Viewlix layout and I would buy that.

    TL;DR and I don't think Razer will read it. They have yet to respond to all those people complaining about Synapse 3. Nice letter though.

    well written letter but it will fall on deaf ears. Razer has zero care about its customers or the quality (more like lack of ) of their software offerings. Would be nice if they stopped rolling out new keyboards and focus on getting their software sorted (hire a new dev team to start).

    A new version of both Orbweaver and ManO'War are two Razer products I'm really looking forward to acquiring the most. The Orbweaver goes really well with laptops since I would rather use a mechanical keypad than the laptop's keyboard. The ManO'War would also keep my desk tidier since it doesn't have wires attached.

    I really hope that Razer is listening to this.

    Having Issues as well.. Cant use Shift/control/alt + any mouse button in World of Warcraft with my razor naga molten spec edition mouse. :slightly_sad:((
