OK, before I start I want to say I am a fan of Razer products, what I am not a fan of is the software in its current state.

So I recently purchased a Black widow keyboard and a diamondback mouse and was using synapse 2 just fine and made all my profiles for all my games and all was well.

Then I purchased the basilisk mouse, which only after it arrived I found out I HAVE to use synapse 3 Beta to use it! For starters, this is an utter joke! Releasing a new product that only works with beta software is just not on at all! You should have made it work with synapse that is your released software!

So, I'm forced to use unreleased, unfinished software and lose all my profiles (as you STILL have not made it possible to migrate them)...So OK, I will change, made all NEW profiles and started again.

Then yesterday I got a Kraken 7.1 headset only to find out its not supported by Synapse 3!!! What a damn joke! So then I installed both Synapse 2 and 3 just to get them all to work, but noooooo, they don't like each other being installed as Synapse 3 keeps saying its not connected when 2 is installed.

So I have an option, use my mouse, or my headset!!....Headset returned for a refund! Now thinking of getting rid of all of it and going with a different company that doesn't force customers to use unreleased software!

Releasing new products without released software is like selling a new car without a functioning engine, and telling the customer "one day it will work"..Just not acceptable behavior and the longer we (the customers) tolerate it, it will become the norm, just like it has in the gaming world.

The beta from the Synapse 3.0 is not really a beta by definition, the software is already launched but it gets updated by the time, it's not something released a week ago to point out that beta. It's being optimized from time to time to be able to support more Razer products. And i do use the 2.0 version and 3.0 together, and don't have too much problems with them, they both work as they should.

It doesn't support released products including ALL headsets (not just legacy products)
It doesn't support Synapse 2 profiles
    It says its a BETA

So its 100% a beta by definition, if it wasn't it wouldn't be called a beta, simple as that.

with both v2 and v3 installed v3 doesn't detect my devices properly. After reading the forums I can see people have been waiting 5+ months for a resolution to some issues. Not supporting new products on the released v2 software is just nuts!

To the point I have raised returns on all my Razer products this afternoon and will change to Corsair. Sure they have problems too, but it seems a lot less.

That's why i told you the beta means that more products will be added soon and some improvements too. It is a lot of work to do for it but it will be done eventually, but if it's not supported by the 3.0 surely is by the 2.0 version, so as long as you get them both to work you can use all your devices.

Key word there my friend is "eventually"

    Eventually the world will end...

The Goliathus should have been supported by the released software, not by unfinished software. No other peripheral manufacturer does this. It shouldn't be excused because we like the products.

I do really like my mouse and keyboard, but I like things to match, and I cant have that with Razer...saying "it will soon" doesn't cut it for me.

Well i guess you have a point because you encounter this unhappy situation. You keep seeing the 3.0 as an unfinished soft but thing is 3.0 was meant for the new products recently released, and 2.0 to support the old products. And now they are trying to integrate to old ones into the 3.0 and stop the 2.0. As long as you can use both i don't see a reason for not being satisfied, i mean you can't quite synchronize both of them to work at one, but you can use them still. Try and have a word with the support and tell them your problem and see what they have to say.

The reason why they don't release new products for both Synapse 2 and 3 at the same time is because it already takes a few months of work to get Synapse 3 to work with a device, but the software for Synapse 2 is completely different, and so would take a few months to get it to work on both.
I'm not just making it up about this btw, its been said in another thread by a member of staff, and I'm just telling you what I understand from his response.

    These are his words:
"The first 3 devices on Synapse 3 were also supported on Synapse 2. But developing software for brand new devices is several months of work (that happens before device release). Developing it for 2 versions of Synapse is straight up double the work. Once again, Synapse 3 is not a reskin, it's a completely different architecture to overcome all limitations of Synapse 2.

Continuing parallel development of Synapse 2 and 3 would mean that we would never be able to catch up on legacy devices in Synapse 3. As of now, we have stopped development on Synapse 2 (other than critical bug fixes) and focused all resources on Synapse 3 (including legacy device migration). Even with us being 100% focused on Synapse 3, the rate of migration of devices is an average of about 2 devices per month.

I absolutely agree that the transition period from Synapse 2 to 3 isn't the most pleasant experience, but the alternative would be to support new devices on both Synapse versions for a certain duration and never bring any older devices to Synapse 3 at all. We (Razer) would still utilize the same amount of engineering resource, but we would be leaving all the users on older products behind and we don't want to do that (despite the accusations of the contrary in this very thread)."

Thanks, I did see that post before. The thing I don't like is they shouldnt have released version 3 without at least having support for their latest headsets. Seems insane to me that they have support for loads of keyboards and loads of mice, but not a single headset!

My OCD is level 12...I cant not have it matching hahaha!

Anyways, currently typing this on the corsair K95 and changed everything to corsair..I still have all the Razer kit sat in boxes in the hope that very soon the headsets are supported by v3!

    Nice onesie btw haha.

Obviously, this is an extremely annoying app. While you will not have an option to replace.

The funny thing is that I have to go $ 60 to get it. Anyway, I still want to have an upgrade now.

    is it a joke ?

I just bought a razer naga chroma to replace my naga 2014... I can't even load my profile from synapse 2 to synapse 3...

If i don't find a solution I will ask amazon to refund me. I can't lost my 100 profile from synapse 2; that's not normal

Do Razer even have real devellopers ? how is it possible for a million$$$ compagny to do something like that ?

Completely different software = completely different type of code. Therefore it's not possible to transfer things like profiles.
Can't you just recreate the profile rather than overreact about it?

Amazon will refund me, that's not overeact, that's razer betraying my trust !

I wont call you a "blind fanboy" i have no time for this; if you really believe that it's a normal move from razer, i can't add anything, i'm not an english speaker but they are lucky to have customer like you.

I hope I will have same customer in my futur carreer.

And no it's not "different software = completely different type of code"; they choose to made it different with no import option; they could easly do it if they wanted to.

    This is too funny.
FYI, razer have already said there will be an option to move S2 profiles to S3....the REAL question is when?? No one seems to answer. They seem too preoccupied releasing new RGB mousemats than to support existing products.

FYI, I bought one of those RGB mousemats the only product I do not have as a Razer product is a headset, they dont have a single headset supported by S3...Months have passed and still zero S3 support for their own headsets! There is no way round this, this is a massive fail by Razer, many have moved to Corsair because of this. I have a steelseries pro wireless and love it, but would rather a Razer solution to stop my OCD going nuts. But, no

Adding a feature to make Synapse 2 profiles compatible with Synapse 3 is not one of the main priority's the team working on Synapse has right now, they are still working on fixing out the bugs that are in the program right now and working on support for more products before they focus on the smaller things such as that.

Except for most people who move from 2 to 3 will be immediately frustrated by the lack of profile migration. As far as I'm concerned, it should have been implemented pre-beta. I don't think it's too much to expect my profiles to already be there since they are all in the cloud.

i'm quite new to this chroma stuff as I just got my first Razer Blackwidow X Chroma a week or two ago. I feel your frustration but at least some games support by default like overwatch, diablo 3 & formula Fusion. I'd like to see more apps & games supported soon or some conversion software to support v2 software to v3. My older Razer gear never had Chroma so i'm not as concerned as the rest of you.

What's strage is that they still sell the Razer Man o war Wireless Chroma headset. Just last week, I bought one off-the-shelf brand new. It's absolutely ridiculous, that this Razer device isn't supported by Synapse 3!

Does anyone know how long S3 has been available for download?

It's pretty unacceptable how long this software has been in beta with little to no major improvements (yes. it's still a beta). I have s2 and s3 running in parallel, and it is a trashcan fire for sure simply because Razer is obviously forcing people to beta test their software for them (who do they think they are, Microsoft?). it doesn't matter if you have issues or not. this development approach by a peripheral company is a complete joke designed to save costs on development. If you don't have the ability to release compatible software that is finished then don't do it! If it takes longer to develop a new software platform because you have to develop for the legacy platform first: THEN SO BE IT. A bunch of fancy lighting effects and lackluster features are no excuse to undermine the stability of your products (which are supposed to be known for reliability and quality above all). As a consumer you should be looking elsewhere because a company willing to do something like this to their loyal community is poison.

2.0 works fine on my deathadder 2013 chroma and my deathstalker keyboard. on those devices i don't really use profiles at all. I used to with my old Nautilus before it finally broke. On my brand new Tartarus V2 (which was purchased without realizing its only supported in S3) I literally can't go a week without having software issues. The peripheral is nice, but the software they force on you is incredibly buggy and it is painfully obvious.

This is the state of my experience as of 8/28/2018 with my Tartarus V2
    • profiles consistently wont switch or just stop switching until s3 is completely restarted
    • profiles not responding to linked programs. something is seriously wrong with this. 3/5 games i primarily use no longer recognise the linked program when they once did.
    • keypresses acting as if i'm holding down the keys randomly
    • the S3 software randomly crashing for no apparent reason
I've exhausted all the support options possible multiple times including RMA's and the software issues always return. Support can have you reinstall a product as much as they want, but it's not going to change the fact that this is unfinished software they are forcing their customers to use when they should be focusing on stability first. They can patch the hell out of it without consequence because they slap a beta tag on it which likely just introduces more issues.

My advice to the OP would be to auction off any razer branded product you own (down to your stickers and lanyards) asap and never look back.

-PS: I have a career in supporting computers and servers and have likely shown much more patience with support than the average person. It's not their fault the product has gone down the tubes. leadership should be addressing problems like this on fundamental levels and it's clear that isn't happening.

-PPS: The Definition of a beta: A stage of development in which a product is nearly complete but not yet ready for release (Ergo: not ready as the sole option for new products)
