So here's the thing. There's currently a weekend sale for the division and from the gameplay videos I've seen, it looks pretty cool.

As per usual, people have been negative about Ubisoft's recent games.
Especially for this title, there have been a LOT of complaints.
    Unfair microtransactions, multiplayer hackers, etc.

So I'm wondering, is it a good idea to buy it?

In my opinion, the time you are leveling your character it makes a lot of fun. Especially if you have some friends by your site. At the moment you reach max Lvl the game starts on repeating itself. You are grinding some hours in the Darkzone, but that's very repetitive too(and problems like hacker, etc.).

But for a small price, I would recommend to take a look at it :)

No point. Its still so expensive at 40% off. Just save your money and get Razer peripherals.

Yeah I must agree on the endgame. Gets boring pretty quick with the repetitive gameplay though some are still willing to go thru the grind.

I feel like people complain way too much about games by Ubisoft/EA. I've been playing Division for the past two months and it's been pretty fun, although I play with a friend so it's a bit different.

Doesn't Steam offer refunds on games you've played for less than two hours (assuming it's no more than 14 days after you bought it)? If so, you can try it and if you don't like it get a refund

I bought it and decided to keep it. I'm enjoying the game so far but wish I had a Friend to play with throughout the entire game. Would definitely make it an entirely different experience.

My husband and I both purchased The Division for our anniversary this past year (in March) and we've been playing off and on ever since. I'm fairly certain that it is a whole different game when you have someone to share everything with, actually our oldest son plays as well, but we've had a blast doing everything together. I'm really glad we own the game.

I just played a hard difficulty Mission and the enemies(rikers) are extremely hard to take down, especially special enemies. What's more annoying is that they run towards me like they're not afraid of death. This has caused me to die horribly many times, which ticks me off. I need an entire magazine to finish off one enemy and they are all rushing at me, it just feels like an impossible feat to accomplish, especially in higher levels.

    Any tips?

Getting a squad lol. Hard makes all the enemies the next tier up- making em much harder to kill. The people who rush you are the most dangerous as they usually have shotguns (or if you're in the earlier stages of the game, bats) and can kill you pretty quick.

Just like @Vivulux mentioned the hard scenarios were designed for groups. Doesn't necessarily mean you need a full group, but at least one other person, preferably two, is ideal. Take things on slowly, and attempt any semblance of stealth that you can manage. A good sniper rifle can be useful, so you can pick off the "weaker" ones in a single headshot before the bigger guns come rush you. There is some added safety in having fewer run at you at once. Also, make good use of the terrain. They can also have line of sight issues against you, but they won't always try to remedy that problem, giving you the chance to only have return fire from a couple that you pick off before changing angles. Also, many maps have barrels and such that can be shot to blow up, and those will do good group damage.
