[TotW] Uninstall or Upgrade?

Userlevel 7

I've recently upgraded my system with more space. I've been uninstalling games when I'm done playing them and installing only when I intend to play them. But I've hit a point where I can't do that anymore and it got super annoying. the topic of discussion for this week: do you like to keep your system tidy and only have the absolute necessary installed games/apps or do you install everything and add more space as you need it?

Comment and like for a chance at the weekly "Great" achievement and for every 20 comments I'll throw in a random "Like" achievement.

Upgrade, definitely, otherwise how would you buy new games you'll never play?
Upgrade as much as you can as prices keeps fluctuating. It makes your build more future-proof as well.
If you are planning to uninstall, might as well just re-image the entire build, at least it'll feel like a new system over-all. So, better upgrade.
What are you going to do with games that doesn't finish? Those competitive ones like DotA? Agree with the above comments, best to upgrade rather than uninstall. Also, games now are so large in size, if you uninstall and plan to play again in the future, you'll need to re-download and re-install again, rather than just jump straight into the game. How much is an upgrade of 2TB SSD nowadays? Or if you're the patient type, can even use HDD for good measure.

Upgrade for your pleasant life. It is quite annoying when the computer goes slower than before. Also, not only gamers but also 3d graphic designers need best performance for their satisfaction.

I need best performance for making VFX, so I have 64GB ram (it is necessary for using Houdini) and 2x 2TB SSD.

i was going through the same uninstall-install-uninstall-install mad routine...

...until one day i decided to purchase a 1TB external HDD.
that's where all my games live now. Problem solved!

so i guess... you could call this... an "upgrade".....?

Upgrade!
SSD's are cheaper and cheaper, so additional disk is not a problem 😃

I have bugger all storage on my laptop, so only install a handful of games at a time. I feel the benefit is that it keeps me focussed on finishing games too!

I'm kinda a hybrid of both.

You see, being an ex-freelance editor/designer/VFX artist, I have an habit of hoarding assets and project files and etc.
This habit still remains and sort of affects everything including the softwares and games I have.

For MMO and free games, I may uninstall the game after I'm done playing or once I realized it's not for me, but I would still keep the installer.

And for Single Player games, tho I can still redownload them from Steam, sometimes when I'm done playing with them I'll still keep the game for absolutely no reason, just cause my brain goes "what if you wanna play it again one day?" and that One day never comes, n that's why my laptop's DVD drive have been switched to a 2nd HDD caddy as well as why I keep adding new storage HDD for my PC

Kinda like Skurge from Thor saying "Behold! My Stuff"

pre-installed everything could save space but need more space.

Uninstall. Anyway I will never play the game I bought 3 years ago, installed and never yet tried o_O
Userlevel 7
Uninstall that, I might cause some system crash for some reason.
Userlevel 7
Upgrade? but that very costly
Userlevel 7
Unless there is a trade off option, upgrade never end

Literally before 1h I added more space 😅. I added 240GB SSD for (C) only windows and programs (desktop) and my old 512GB SSD only for games as (D) + 2 x 2TB WD Red Plus (NAS HDD) for whatever I need to store on my PC 😂 (E + G ).

Upgrade, sometimes i need to play old games and my internet is very slow.
Userlevel 7
I uninstall my games, sorry
Userlevel 7
Hello friends,

I keep all F2P games for Razer Cortex PC.
I uninstall old games and keep only saves game.
Userlevel 7
I only have what I'm playing or play every few weeks installed, 1TB has almost always been enough so far. Otherwise it's just clutter that will be updating for no reason also.
Userlevel 6
Same prob here with my limited capacity
uninstalled if never played for so long, and also upgrade
I will uninstall unused apps to free up space. So, the files and apps on the PC will not be messy for me.
Userlevel 7
Surely I will upgrade my storage. This is because I love to install many games for my home screen collections even though I don't play the game LOL

Nah, i always have way more apps and games than i need. Once in a while, i clean them.
I am a potato PC (Laptop actually) Gamer. My current Laptop is 8 years old I think.

I take pride in somehow running games that are out of the systems requirements, which is kind of foolish. But after putting so much of effort in running things in such a bad machine, I have learnt to use a machine as efficiently and optimized as I can. Its also part of the reason why I am so lazy when changing machines, primarily because I feel its a big hassle to find new optimizations on a new machine.

Given this state, I have no choice but to keep my system tidy (although sometimes it does get out of hand, and I need to spend time getting it optimized again)
