Hello friends,

Video games never cease to impress me with their graphic quality, their realism.
Unreal Engine does photorealistic technical prowess, it's impressive.
New screens have a lot to visual improvement and fluidity.

But these powerful artificial light sources can strain our eyes and damage them if we're not careful.

This week, I'm going to ask you if you use software or hardware features, specific settings to protect your eyes.

I will tell you what I recommend, do not hesitate to give me your advice.

 • Dark mode.
I activate Dark mode systematically to reduce brightness and blue light.
Because white background attacks my eyes too much.
On AMOLED screens, it also saves energy, because black color is simply LED off, very interesting on laptop to increase autonomy.
For my next screen I want will be AMOLED. 😊
• Screen brightness adjustment.
The backlight of my IPS screen consumes electricity and attacks my eyes.
So I reduce it as much as possible.
I only increase contrast for very dark games.
• Night mode.
Night mode accentuates warm colors (yellow/orange) to the detriment of cold colors (blue), which reduces blue light that is dangerous for eyes.
Personally, I do not use because I find that it makes picture too yellowish, unrealistic.
• Blue light protective glasses.
Blue light protection glasses filters harmful blue lights for your eyes, this is very important if you often use your computer or IT professionals.
Blue light protection treatment can be directly integrated into your eye correction glasses.
Razer Anzu smartglasses has interchangeable lenses:
- Sunglass Lens for your tanning session at the beach.
- Blue Light Lens when you are on the computer or TV.

 • Blue light protection screen filter/screen limitation standard.
Blue light protection screen filter are screens that you place on the monitor or factory-integrated filters by the manufacturer to limit blue light emission.
Limitation standard are led components used to manufacture the screen.
I only use Dark mode and Screen brightness adjustment because I am casual gaming.
But Blue light protection glasses would be good if I ever think of buying.

What your choices?

TIPS

It’s important to take regular breaks to rest your eyes, joints, back and legs.

No need for extra glasses

Night mode all the time!

Dark Mode FTW! When I'm gaming I always keep suitable lighting ambiance in my room. Not too bright, not too dim. Just nice suitable with my display lighting. Also, I'll set my display (laptop) light not more than level 50 to keep my eyes healthy.

Dark mode all the way 🙂

Dark mode. Screen brightness adjustment. Night mode. and f.lux for windows to turn lower brightness beyond the monitor allowed range due to native 350nits HDR 400nits gaming monitor are still too bright at lowest brightness during day and night.

Dark mode for everything, if possible, I also se app which filter blue light on desktop and Mobile. Don't know how useful but I find them necessary

always dark mode.

This is actually true and I admit it's something I've been doing for some time.

To be honest, I don't actually have a perfect 20/20 vision, but for someone who's been staring at screen for a good portion of his life, I do have a good eyesight or at least as good as how it always was for the past 20years.

I had a cousin who used to work in tech industry for a long time, and it was him who introduce me to this gaming & tech world, and most of the thing mentioned by OP above is exactly the same advice he told me too, I vouch for this.

Tho back then Dark mode wasn't a thing yet, but blue light filter, yes sir!

Really good & informative write up

dark too

I don't believe blue light is necessarily bad for your eyes, but it does keep you awake, that's why operating systems have a setting that you can choose which automatically turns on night mode between sunset and sunrise, to minimise your blue light exposure during those times which matches nature's "timeclock" :smile_:
psychiatrist near me for adhd Suggest me to play video games. I started to play video games to become busy myself. I read your thread and apply to me. You will not believe i really enjoy a lot to play game after this. Thanks Buddy

Hello Clvpsy,

It's important to follow the recommendations of your psychiatrist.
Your psychiatrist is a healthcare professional.
Me, I'm not a doctor.

I completely agree with your psychiatrist, video games bring a lot of positive things.
But like any activity, they must be practiced with moderation and precautions.

I just gave some eye safety tips.

You should gaming, have fun, make friends without worrying for the moment.
At your next medical appointment, spoke to him about the blue light, your doctor will be able to advise you perfectly.☺

Dark mode, f.lux or nightshift or a similar color adjusting app, et up every hour and walk around if you can, and also go to bed early end let the sun see you tomorrow!
Userlevel 7
only dark mode
Good tip
Dark mode is the only one I use so that I'm not getting hit with a blinding amount of light. That and it conserves energy.

Past that, I'd rather just let color be natural in as much as it can.
Dark mode is honsetly better than light mode in most cases.

For me, I usually use blue light glasses when I am on a screen for a long period of time. I recently attempted a speedrun of The Forest and got 1 hour and 35 minutes and 6 seconds. I used blue light glasses for that because of how dark the caves are.
