Trying to get an all synapse chroma battlestation built

So I haven't done a full build since 2011, and need to start from scratch. I know where I am at for the most part with hardware, but I want to make sure all my RGB things are synced with synapse. I plan on getting Philips hue lights in the future, just not right now.

So I have two builds, one that is easier on the pocket book, and one that is full on Lian Li Razer case. Is all the hardware I selected supported? It looks like I might have to get a different MOBO since gigabyte is not currently on the list. I don't really want to raise my cost much more on either build, but if I am going to have visible running RGB stuff, I know I want it all integrated. Thanks in advance!

The more affordable option.

I think both builds are honestly pretty solid. The only advice I'd give you is that the G SKILL Trident Z RGB software controller can be a huge pain in the ass to make work with Chroma AND the ASROCK lighting system. It'll look flashy, but just expect to run some firmware updates to make them all one big family.

P.S. Nothing screams majesty like that Lian Li case 🙂

I backed off them a little because they went off sale and jumped to 200 bucks. Do you know of RAM that plays nicely if trident doesnt?

Honestly, Trident is the *least* buggy versus Corsair iCUE or the HyperX driver. I will say, if you want a fully RGB battle station, TridentZ looks incredible. I went with the Royal variant, so the light looks crystalline.

Thanks for the update. I actually punted on case RGB and bought everything Saturday. I haven't had a chance to start the build yet though.

For me it came down to sounding like getting everything perfectly synced was going to be a huge pain in the ass or not work completely and I know that would bother me. Paying extra money for fancy bits would be nice if it all worked exactly as I wanted, but that was starting to seem like a less and less likely outcome. I will still upgrade from my old Blackwidow that only supports Synapse 2, and get some Philips hue stuff down the road, but I am going more stealthy with the case right now. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Polygeekism/saved/yLxJbv

Sorry for only now seeing this. I looked at both builds and both are great as mentioned before. The only things I would say, Kinda went overkill with the PSU. 750 watts is a lot. also, I would have opted for a better graphics card if you are going to be running a 3rd gen ryzen 7. That processor is a beast. And it deserves a really good GPU to go with it. I would have saved about 50 bucks on the PSU and put it toward a better GPU. You could have also saved some money on your liquid cooling. with those other 3 fans you got, you wont need liquid cooling. You could have saved 50-100 bucks there too. other than that it looks like a solid build. Oh... one last thing, You probably could have found a cheaper 1 TB SSD, but that one is pretty good.

Yeah I prefer to over build on the PSU because less stress is better imo. I am just using the 1060 from my current system and am going to get a 2070 super sometime this fall. Super overkill for 1080p gaming, but I play on upgrading the monitor to 1440p at some point as well.

I decided going full blown build just isn't worth it for now, and if I get to the point of needing to build a second pc for a side hustle maybe then it makes sense doing something crazy and flashy.

Then in that case everything is justified. If I have learned anything, Don't go overkill on the PSU. But NEVER go cheap on it either. House fires are bad...

House fires are only okay if it's to kill a spider nest 🙂

Poly, I agree that you nailed the build for what you wanted. I did the same with my recent rig, in terms of using an old card until i could super-charge with a new generation. In my case, I went from a 670 to a 1080ti about 1.5 years ago. I'm a huge fan of 1440p / 144hz gaming, you can't go back once you see it.
