    Hi I've been trying UBUNTU 18.04 LTS,

    I have installed UBUNTU from USB, then installed the NVIDIA Drivers (via Software & Updates utility-> Additional Drivers), then modify the file '/etc/default/grub':

    vi /etc/default/grub

    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet button.lid_init_state=open pcie_aspm=off splash"

    then run the command:

    update-grub

    then reboot:

    init 6

    Everything is working fine:

    Krita
    Libreoffice
    Thunderbird
    Firefox
    Beyond Compare
    VMware Workstation
    CLion
    Filezilla
    MPV
    VLC
    Java

    I Also use VM with RedHat Enterprise Linux 7, and Windows 10 + ZBrush. Windows 10 in particular run fast.

    Additional Hardware tested(everything works immediately):

    120Hz HDMI Monitor
    MICROSOFT SURFACE USB to Ethernet Adapter
    Various Razer and Logitech mouse
    Razer Blackwidow TE (Chroma and Normal)
    Bose Bluetooth HeadSet (QC35)

    I know this it is just a small selection of software, it's been just 4 days so it is a little early to judge a software distribution, but this one seem very good: I did not hack into the distribution at all.

    What is the command means? I have some issues to install 18.04.
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet button.lid_init_state=open pcie_aspm=off splash"

    Hi,

    button.lid_init_state=open -> without this when you close the lid the PC will not standby correctly

    pcie_aspm=off -> without this you have an incorrect behavior of a kerner module that manage the power management of the pci-e, you can check the kernel messages: sudo dmesg

    Actually I got some problem without the External monitor, the notebook get warm very quickly and the battery does not last long, as a workaround:

    NVIDIA Settings -> PRIME Profiles -> Intel

    :slightly_sad: Very disappointing

    Lid closing , pcie error and hot graphics card, all these problems occur on my Razer Blade Pro 17 2017 Nvidia 1080's edition. I am going to try what you've done as soon as possible, hoping it also works for me. Still there are some issues more. Do you have any idea to fix them:

    Scrolling with track-pad using two fingers falls into a cyclical situation. Sometimes it needs 3 or 4 fingers to move the page, sometimes I can't scroll with any fingers but sometimes it becomes normal. Use function keys plus sound wheel conditioner( a mechanism of blade pro to scroll pages) is all time fine. Going to Setting -> Mouse & Touchpad , there only are options of Primary Button LEFT / RIGHT and Point Speed modiflier, nothing about touch-pad.

    Using buttons on keyboard to adjust screen brightness won't take any real changes of the brightness although there is a adjust menu showing on screen. How could I change screen brightness with keyboard?

    :wink_:Very Thankful !

    I Discover that the colors look strange on my external monitor, to change that I create a file:

    vi ~/.xprofile
    xrandr | grep ^[A-Z] | grep -w connected | awk '{print $1}' | while read output ; do
    /usr/bin/xrandr --output $output --set "Broadcast RGB" "Full"
    done
