Viper Ultimate Cannot Connect via Dock Anymore after Firmware Upgrade

Hi everyone,

I bought my Viper Ultimate yesterday and it was pretty good. I did like the dock very much since it could still connect my mouse to Synapse 3 when I put the mouse on it during power off. I configured the dock to show my Viper's battery level so when I placed the powered-off mouse on the dock, the mouse light and the dock light can both show the mouse's current battery level.

However, things changed after I upgraded its firmware from 1.03.02 to 1.04.00 today. The release note of the 1.04.00 firmware said 'Fixed an issue where the mouse is seen on Synapse when it is placed on the dock and switched OFF', which I didn't realize how stupid it is before I upgraded the firmware. Newer firmware was always better, I just thought.

So after the firmware upgrade, my Viper Ultimate doesn't show anymore in Synapse 3 when I power it off and put it on the dock. The more stupid thing is, when I put it on the dock, the light on the mouse will show green which indicates my mouse's battery is full, but the light on the dock will show red since it cannot connect to my mouse on the dock and thinks the mouse's battery is dead. It looks SO ODD. The mouse can only connect to the dock and show in Synapse 3 after I power it on.

I've tried cleaning the charging points on the dock and doing a clean reinstallation for Synapse 3, but neither of them solved the issue. I've opened a ticket to Razer Support and they said they'll mention it to their dev team. Also, they mentioned there's no way to downgrade my mouse firmware. It's really a weird firmware upgrade, which removed a convenient feature from the software level. I mean, the dock does have the hardware capability to connect the powered-off mouse to the computer other than just do the charging, but Razer just removed the feature in the new firmware. If so, why did I bother paying $20 more to buy a dock which can only do the charging?

P.S. This Viper Ultimate is my secondary mouse which I'll only use when playing CSGO, so most time it will be powered off and placed on the dock. And why don't I power it on all the time? Because I don't want its light to be still on after I turn off my desktop, and also to save its battery.

'Fixed an issue where the mouse is seen on Synapse when it is placed on the dock and switched OFF',

There was an overwhelming request from the community that the mouse should not be visible on the app when it is powered off, even when it is docked. The said firmware update is for those users. The issues you are experiencing are an unfortunate side-effect since the mouse is no longer communicating with the dock and the app. Do send me your ticket number so I can monitor the progress of the case.
