To all the anime weebs out there, what's the one anime that will always hold a special place in your heart? It can be an ln or manga but for me, hunter x hunter will always be my favorite. I got into the anime form the 1997 version and when they redid it, i watched the whole thing again. Now its been like 6-7 times already but it never gets old.  whats your favorite?

Choosing is one is hard... But if I had to, I would probably choose No Game No Life. Even though it's a newer show, can't get enough of it!

    Definitely a really good one!

For Anime I would go with Kiseijū: Sei no Kakuritsu(English name: Parasyte). It's definitely one of my favorites!

I wasn't able to read the manga yet. Unlikely I have still 30 manga laying around. I just don't have the time to read them. As well as watching anime :/

All time (in no particular order):

    Shonen:

    Runners up:
Recent: Re:Zero and of course Attack on Titan.

I'm just waiting for someone to say Sword Art Online lol...

If I had to choose only one all time favorite, it would probably have to be Bebop. Nothing has surpassed its deep emotion and subtle elegance for me. I don't even like guns. It's just that good.

For anyone trying to get into (or back into) anime, I recommend taking a look at MyAnimeList's Top Anime Series list. Watching that list is what got me seriously into anime (disregarding the stuff I watched as a child - DBZ, Sailor Moon, Pokemon, etc.)

Happy Black Friday and Cyber weekend everyone!

    LOOOOOL what a savage

Rodeleeuw + Rapture seriously, I was hyped for SAO too! I really liked the beginning of the first season. Trust me, I was a huge fan. I went to the concerts and had albums signed by Eir Aoi & Luna Haruna for the opening/ending themes. They even did a cover of Lisa's Crossing Field. Then I proceeded to get autographs from Reki Kawahara himself. I had a good time.

But when you actually sit down to analyze the series objectively like a critic, looking past the hype-storm, you begin to realize it could have been so much more. If they had stuck with Aincrad and fleshed out the story, everything would be golden. Instead, they ended that storyline abruptly, switched games to fairy land, demoted Asuna to a damsel in distress, touched on themes such as incest & tentacles, and then proceeded to switch games again...

I do understand that the anime was a light novel derivation. They ran out of material to produce content for. But alas, that doesn't justify that it had tremendous potential and ended up missing its mark. I believe that's the general consensus. There's a reason why it's ranked #803 on MyAnimeList and SAO II even worse. The reviewers on there can tell you guys why SAO is mediocre way better than I can.

At the end of the day, everyone has different opinions and likes different things irrelevant of the actual quality of the content. Otherwise a lot of American pop stars would be out of a job lol.

I never watched SAO as I'm more keened towards Accel World. However I didn't know SAO became as bad as what you've mentioned. When the anime deviates from the LN or Manga it becomes so frustrating to watch imo. Just like what happened to Rosario+Vampire. Holy shit the manga was intense, but the anime was just so stupid.

Full Metal Alchemist without a doubt (the new version, animation is nicer in my opinion). First anime I watched, and so far the best - guess my perception might be skewed because of that though.

Honorable mention for sure. Love that anime, music is gorgeous! (I actually was so in-love with the music, I immediately printed the sheets after finishing the series and learnt the whole intro in a month) I do think the sister-brother relationship they have is a bit weird, and I hope the anime doesn't take it in the wrong direction :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. Animenz did a great arrangement of it, you should definitely check it out on Youtube.

    My absolute favorite ones are;

    -Wolf's Rain
    -Noragami
    -Naruto

Not in any order, too hard to decide, all my other anime can be found here.

Jeah I can see your point. It's really random how they suddenly switch to fairy mode.. The second half is kind of stupid.
