What BIOS/FW is safe to upgrade? Razer Blade 14" (2016) Intel 6700HQ - GTX1060

First some backstory: a few weeks ago I visited the support page for my Razer Blade 14" (2016) Intel 6700HQ GTX1060 and made the mistake of running the firmware update for excessive fan noise. The utility erased my firmware but failed to flash the new code, disabling the keyboard and the fan controller.

I RMA'd the machine, got it fixed, and now it's working again. So far so good.

Here's my problem: I would like to make sure the BIOS and other firmwares are up to date, but I'm scared to run anything. It doesn't help that the layout of the support page is kind of confusing. So I want to ask the folks on this forum: what's safe to run, in your experience?

  • My BIOS is at version 2.02. The support page suggests I should update to 2.03. However, the download link given is for a computer with a "6700U" processor, not the "6700HQ" that I supposedly have. Is that a misprint, or is it the BIOS upgrade likely to brick my machine because it's for a different processor?
  • My ME firmware is at version 11.8.65.3590. The support website offers "ME-11.8.65.3590-v2" and "ME-11.8.60.3590-v3" as potential upgrades. I'm guessing the "v3" is the most recent...but is it safe?

As you can tell, I'm feeling paranoid. If anyone has experience to offer here, I'd be grateful.

Hi there! Can you PM me the serial number of your Blade? I'll pick it up from there.
I have the same system and I updated to 2.03 with zero issues.
