Good call on Runescape! It was my first MMORPG and it really gave me my first taste of punishing PvP. Dying in the wild and losing all but your best 3 items was such a harsh but great learning experience. On the other hand, I loved putting others through that same pain at no expense to myself. You just didn't see that in other games at that time.

Well the first online game I played was one of the Halo games on Xbox, but I think what really got me into online gaming was the CoD series of games on PlayStation

For me? I'd have to say it started with playing Halo 3 online with my friends back when that came out. I used Live for just about everything after that.

Now I'm not so much into the FPS realm of gaming anymore, so I find myself in things more along the lines of Star Trek Online, I just got into Black Desert Online, and hopefully I'll find my way to No Man's Sky or Star Citizen in the future. I just find MMOs to be a lot more rewarding and satisfying to play.

I played Quake 2 online back in the day. Neopets/Runescape as well as the old flash games. It ramped up for me with the release of CS 1.6 though. That was big when Steam first started to deploy.

I'd say browser game, battleknight and later some ogame to be exact. Some time later the age of mmorpg came upon us and online gaming was the stable.

Halo reach. That's how it all began. I got an XBOX 360 with Reach in the 8th grade.
