Hey guys,

last year we had a thread about what we want to see in the upcoming Razer Blade.

Maybe we can start a thread like this again, maybe Razer will hear us ;)

So let's get started. For the upcoming Razer Blade 15" in 2020 i would like to see:
- RTX 30XX Max-Q
- AMD Ryzen 4000 series CPU's
- More configuration options for Germany (Mercury White with the RTX 3070 and just 256GB SSD, switching the SSD anyway)
- Maybe a little more cooling
- Maybe a little more battery power

I'm really looking forward to the new GPU Generation and the Razer Blade coming up with it. This year i will get a new Laptop and at the moment the Razer Blade is my favourit. So it's more like a wishlist for me ;)

So what do you guys want to get in the new Razer Blade?

More chroma :smile_:
Just bought an RB15 Advanced (mid 2019) and was surprised that they only come with a 512GB SSD. At this point in the 21st Century, 1-2TB is a minimum config even on laptops sold at Best Buy. More configs with more storage and RAM (16GB) would be a great start for 2020.

As mentioned in the OP, an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H (45W TDP) or Intel 9th/10th generation i9 (e.g. unlocked i9-9980HK) would be pretty sweet, although the Intel i7 9750H is pretty snappy already.

Lastly, as a Windows power user, the optional availability of Windows 10 Professional would be nice.

Oh yeah, thats something i forgot. I really wouldn't need any Windows coming with the Laptop. I got tons of licenses around here and i really appreciate the Options from other companys, to leave the license behind. Safes about 100 bucks.
Won't buy anything that says "AMD" on it. It's junk. Will always be junk regardless of the benchmarks and hype. I don't care.
@Krighton.

That seems pretty ignorant.

So what do you guys want to get in the new Razer Blade?

Another thought: A nice, red RB15 Base for Valentine's Day. :big_grin_:

Ever since wifey saw my new RB15 Advanced w/4K OLED display, she's been coveting one of her own. The biggest seller, interestingly, is the 15" screen and light-weight CNC aluminum chassis.

I'd be willing to pick her up an RB15 with a 60Hz GTX 1660Ti for Valentine's Day or her birthday if it came in red.

Hi, the hard drives at bestbuy you are referring to are base spec junk with slow mechanical hard drives. The 512gb in Razer blades are easily some of the best, and fastest you can buy.

I kind of don't want another model in 2020 to be honest. The current lineup is pretty solid and they just released the refresh pretty recently. It seems kind of unnecessary to do a minor spec bump "just because".
@gstsdw

I'm really looking forward to the 7nm NVidia Chips which will be released in Summer/Autumn. I think a Gaming Laptop like the Razer Blade will have a very great advantage out of these.

Also i would like to see a strong AMD CPU in the Razer Blade, but i guess that we will have to stay with these bad Intel ones...

An AMD based machine would be pretty interesting, I'm really digging their new lineup of CPUs. Unfortunately they haven't translated well in the mobile space. This is an area where they really need to optimize the ryzen platform. There's a ryzen based gaming laptops out right now and they are under performing / bottlenecking with the gpus.

Hopefully they get better because I really dig what they are doing right now, it'd be nice to have a cheaper cpu that crushes the current intel lineup inside of a laptop. I think it'll happen but maybe not this year.
The Ryzen 4 Lineup looks pretty promising for the mobile market and has a much higher multi-core power then the Intel Lineup. And Intel ist only releasing refreshes again...
Razer Blade 14" Keyboard layout and travel distance is the only thing I wish for in the next Blade revision. I can't stand the full size arrow keys which causes all sorts of headaches with Right Shift, Right FN and Arrows.
I want to control my fan speed no matter what profile is set, gaming, creative, and balanced on my 19 17 pro.
I have a 2019 Advanced model, so there's zero chance of my buying a 2020 model, so Razer can do whatever they want - I have no money at this point :)

With that said, I'd like to see some better expandability, a single NVMe slot is inadequate in this day and age, likewise the default 512GB storage.

As other's mentioned, more control of the hardware, such as fans would be a plus but that shouldn't need to wait for a new laptop model, Razer can and should update the synapse app to provide more precise control
I am hoping to get one more year out of my 2017 Blade Pro. Sometime in 2021, I am planing on going back to the 15" screen. I cannot wait to see what the next generation of ray tracing is going to look like.

As for features, I would really like an SD card reader and a DP. The Oculus Rift S does with with the expensive HDMI to DP adapter that I have now, but I would like my next laptop to not need the adapter.
My wishlist,

  • Ryzen 4000 options across the entire blade lineup. More cores, better tdp. U and H series options.
  • Blade pro sorely needs a higher capacity battery than the 15 inch version.
  • Optical key switches, and oled screens should be options for the entire blade lineup. Additionally the Quadro should be available for the 17" pro.
  • Do not change the chassis/build quality, easily the best in the industry. However, a numpad on the pro model would be much appreciated.
  • Higher capacity nvmes are a must for laptops designed for gaming/work newer games are 100GB+ in size now, and Autodesk applications/rendering and video editing apps can be very demanding of storage. It would be incredibly beneficial to be able to store more on your fast internal nvme drive. 1TB minimum capacity.
  • Make the logo on the outside Chroma enabled like the RP2 three zones of color is fun to play with. And it adds personality. Notifications while the lid is closed would be awesome as well.
  • The Blade pro needs to be different compared to the 15" model, the 13" is clearly for battery/portability. The 15" is a powerhouse with all the options and the 17" honestly looks like a neutered blade 15" with a larger screen. No Quadro? Smaller battery? No numpad? Professionals, generally speaking, use the numpad. The Pro edition blade should be geared towards professionals. Numpad, highest capacity battery, Windows 10 Pro, 16-32GB ram (64GB?), 2TB+ storage, 4k 120hz screen is great keep that.

That's just my two cents. I've been saving for a new laptop for drafting/AAA gaming and the Blade Pro almost checks all my boxes, once it does I'm shelling out the build quality really is what keeps me coming back.
