My (late 2017- early 2018) Razer Blade wishlist

    Improved cooling performance:

    • Vapour chamber cooling or better-executed heat pipe cooling solution.
    • 4-way exhaust with 4 heatsink fin arrays for more surface area to dissipate heat.
    • Larger fans with a new fan blade design to move air more efficiently.
    • low fan noise during gaming sessions. (allow for customizability with fan curves and fan speeds like the Aorus laptops.
    • Keep the laptops height within the 20-25mm range to accommodate and provide enough headroom for the improved cooling system.
    • Proper heatsink mounting solution for the CPU and GPU to prevent uneven coverage and provide consistent temperatures.

    • A 15.6-inch screen in 1080p and 4k touch option with good colour accuracy. (maybe a 3k version to provide a nice middle ground screen resolution).
    • Maybe implement a zero bezel G-sync display with resolution options to make it comparable in size to a 14-inch laptop.

    Keyboard and mouse:

    • Middle bottom mouse with larger dedicated left and right buttons.
    • The Same RGB keyboard as the razer blade 14 but with full-sized arrow keys and fully lit keys which includes the special characters (function keys) so that everything can be seen in a dark environment.

    • 3 USB 3.1 type-A ports
    • 2 USB type-C ports (1 thunderbolt and 1 USB 3.1 at gen2 speeds) or 1 USB type-C with thunderbolt.
    • 1 Display port 1.3/1.4
    • 1 HDMI 2.0/2.1 port
    • 1 SDXC/ multi-card slot (SD card is flush with the laptop when inserted and is spring loaded to allow the SD card to pop out when pressed again. Having an SD inserted halfway is not a deal breaker. (Not essential but nice addition)
    • Magnetic charging port or USB type- C port that can be both power and data.
    • 3.5mm combo audio port
    Internal hardware
    • Built-in 99Wh battery to compensate for G-sync
    • GTX 1070
    • Dual PCIe (NVME) SSD drives (Samsung PM or SM series SSDs) or 1 PCIe (NVME) SSD for boot and the other as a storage option.
    • Latest intel chip
    • 16GB and 32GB ram options maybe upgradable to 64GB but unlikely.

Yeah, buy it is my take on what should be included in the new razer blade. Also, I wanted to see what other peoples opinions are on the new blade that I proposed.

I don't wanna see too quick update;) just bought Kabylake and love it so much:) I hope though they make a decent with less problems upgrades GPU and CPU, Monitor etc every Q2 like 2 years ago. Cofeelake in late 2017 not worth an upgrade from Kabylake, still 14nm it will be better they wait till Canonlake and maybe 1160, next year.

    1. 15.6 in 1080p and 4k screen options with macbook style bezel (no g-sync since it kills battery).
    2. Improve the cooling like Zakariya-Moussa said.
    3. If released in 2018 put the gtx 1160 or 2060 what ever its called.
4.Replace current track pad with a precision track pad.
    5.Bigger 85+ WH battery.
7.3 USB 3.1 type A, 2 USB type C TB3 gen 2 with charging capability, HDMI 2.0, headphone/mic jack, and magnetic or baral ac plug.
    7. Lastly, If you want to charge so much for the product please improve the quality control!

My only wishes are thinner bezzels and to get rid of those trackpad buttons. My left click doesnt work anymore, I dont really care because I rarely use those buttons.

Other than that, the current Blade is perfect to me.

Some things on this wishlist are pretty much overkill and some things aren't even possible. A USB-C port cannot charge a gaming notebook.

If you want a bigger screen with g-sync, better gpu, bigger battery, full size arrows and more ports buy a Razer Blade Pro. If you put those things on a normal Blade the prices would be nearly the same.

I have 1440p in my laptop and don't ever thinks it's necesary. A better framerate and don't be shy to deliver a big laptop if that means a better graphics card.

Zakariya-Moussa clearly is looking for a blade pro but I think got lost in a blade 14 forum or just does not know the difference between reality and fantasy. When it comes to USB-C port charging, it is actually very possible to charge via usb-c, but it would be a secondary form of charging since it can only deliver a maximum of 100 watts (useful for power banks and small form factor chargers when on the go). I think my wish list is a realistic wish list.

I think razer has a good balance of performance and size. Right now if you want a netbook sized laptop and want a dedicated graphics card you only really have the blade and the aorus to pick from. And from my experience the blade uses much better materials and is a lot sturdier. But with the release on the max q laptops that only get up to 40 decibels under load, I think razer needs to step their game up and follow suit. A razer blade that only gets up to 40 decibels would be great.

I am not a fan of the max-q (aka the mobile version of desktop cards) because they have 2 options. The first option is to go for max-q 1070 and get at best about 10% better performance than the gtx 1060 while having to charge more for the laptop or taking the hit. Or they go for max-q 1060 and get about 10% lower performance than the normal 1060 but with way better thermals and noise. This is at least how I think max-q works but could be wrong.

I didn't put my attention on dB noise level, just measured mine Blade 14, it's max 52 dB playing wildlands on max setting (45~55fps), last times when i was using it with zephyrus it also not by far quiter than Blade (titanfall 2, OW, FIFA 17), I'm curious now was it under 40 dB.
1070max q performance is around 25% better than 1060 (MSI GS63, Sager Clevo), if they put laptop 1060maxq it would make it VR not ready because on laptop minimum requirement was gtx1060 pascal.

Well when I say max q laptop from razer I only mean for the fan noise. I think the 1060 as it is meets the requirements for power draw and such. So if razer took the time to make a better fan and cooling solution I think they could make a 1060 laptop that met the requirements.

And to be fair we all have razer products on this forum. All of our products are expensive. Especially the laptops. So I find it funny that a lot of people say the max q laptops are expensive. My blade is the qhd 512gb model and it was very close in price to the Zephyrus. Besides the touch screen, higher resolution, and most likely build quality the Zephyrus seems like a better buy if you don't mind the larger size.

I do understand your point that they're basically making mobile gpus again. But considering that they aren't actually cut down versions and just undervolted they may replace the desktop cards in laptops in a few generations. Which in the long run would be better for all of us.

You have both the blade and the Zephyrus? Lucky dog. I would be curious to know the overall difference in dB. That is really what has my attention on Max Q.

Yes have it on my hand;) No it was not mine.
Max q laptops especially zephyrus beside thickness and Fan noise, they are concentrating to cooling systems, but the back cover cassis that always opened could bad in long term durability (any insects or dust could go in there easily if you forget to close the lid when not using it). The price tags, you should compare it with Blade pro one, it is way users friendly for the hardware on that point, i saw zephyrus owner on notebooks Forum always make comparisons with Blade pro in term performance, they tried to OC it which made the FS score better than 1080 on Blade Pro on stock but I think only 200.

And everything you just talked about is exactly what I want razer to do. I do understand this is all brand new, but since Razer is always trying ot sell their solutions as the best I'd want them to get in on this idea. On the Blade 14 it would be alot more challenging do to the size. But, the Blade Pro definitely needs it. Although I ca easily see razer calling their solution something else like "Ultra - R!!!!" lol
  16. I currently want to get The New Razer Blade 14'', but I have decided that I'd rather suffer with my current terrible PC and wait for a possible Razer Blade with a Ryzen APU (or whatever AMD's newest mobile hardware is called)
than to purchase anything from Intel. I see a lot of value in AMD's latest technology, so I'm going to support them. I think 4 core variant of Raven Ridge would be great in a Razer Blade. AMD practically offers the same performance as Intel, but they're a little bit less potent and a lot less expensive. Another reason I can see AMD only CPU/GPU doing perfect for this laptop would be that AMD FreeSync (a software that eliminates screen tearing, does not result in stuttering like V-Sync does, and reduces input lag.) could easily be obtained, which makes for amazing gameplay. I really hope Razer makes a new system with AMD Ryzen/Vega, if they do, you all know which girl will have one sexy piece of hardware.

Also, I have no idea why people don't make an 80Hz panel for gamers. It's a lot easier to run than anything 80+, and it's likely a decent step-up from 60Hz. I've seen 75Hz panels, but come on... 80 is just so much nicer of a number.

Some of you hit it but I think the MaxQ laptops would be awesome from what I understand it to be. A higher GPU with cooling efficiency. I know the 1080 would bring it down a notch but yet above a 1070 for bench marks or overall performance, but I believe if the cooling mechanism does what is supposed to do, it has my vote! I made a thread about this a few weeks ago, but anyhow, on that note to OP..

Cooling efficiency (max q in mind)
1070 or 1080..unless the next batch of cards arrise by late this yr or early next yr.

    All that combined is perfecto!

I voted for the 4K screen. I have a 4K screen and it makes 1920 x 1080 look old and dated. In fact 1080 reminds me of pre-HD televisions.

^ I agree to this. I'm just curious on the quality of play having that type of resolution with a higher GPU in play on the laptop. Handful of reviews seems to point toward the QHD of which is why I picked it. However, If im wrong and there are ways for a pretty solid play off of 4k....hands down I'd love to see the 4k in play!
