Hey Insiders, In January’s edition of What’s in Your Bag, we speak with Insider Guardian and hardcore gamer Connor " @Destrok ” Phelan. Connor is part of the OG crew of Insider mods that have been integral to the growth of Insider. Apart from his work and forum commitments, he can be found gaming on OW and PUBG. Tell us more about yourself! What do you do for a living? What do you do for fun? A fun fact? I’m currently doing sales in the video game industry, but preparing for a new role as technician at an alarm company. It’ll be interesting as it requires quite a bit of travel! Frankly, I’m keeping my options open as I just want to find a way to sustain my hobbies. What do I do for fun? Well, game. Several Insiders have played Overwatch, League, or PUBG with me. I started playing Magic the Gathering in the last year or so, and I am also involved in community theatre. A fun fact: I learned how to juggle a few months ago. Surprisingly easy. What’s in your bag? The new Razer Blade Stealth, Goliathus Control Edition, Razer mouse pouch containing my Naga Epic Chroma, and Hammerhead Pro V2, and power cords for my electronics and my USB hub. I’m always down for a game of Magic, so I have my trade binder and playmat for MTG, deck boxes (DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CARDS IN YOUR CAR) with me too. Also, my copy of the script for “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” Finally, my Firefly deck of playing cards (if you live in the Midwest and don’t know how to play Euchre, shame on you), sunglasses, stationaries, notebook and a travel grooming kit. What’s a typical day like for you? I haul myself to the gym to work with my personal trainer and all 5’2” of her Chilean fury. If I don’t have a shift/class that afternoon, I camp out with my Blade and Hammerheads and work on projects. In the evenings, I’m usually at rehearsals for my show or at a local game store to play some Commander. The rest of night is spent playing PUBG, LoL or OW at a friend’s place. What’s an item you carry you cannot live without? Music has always been a large part of my life. I started playing the violin in 4th grade and I was in choir in high school. I listen to music just to relax, solve problems or keep myself sane during traffic jams. When I’m working, I have a certain playlist I put on to drown everything else out and focus. A buddy of mine got me the original Hammerheads as a Christmas present. They immediately replaced my Klipsch earbuds and I haven’t looked back since! My Hammerhead V2 is something I absolutely cannot live without. Is there anything you would like to say to the community? This is a tough one... STOP MAKING CONSECUTIVE POSTS FOR ME TO MERGE! All jokes aside, Insider is over 3 years old now, and I’ve been on it since the closed beta. Throughout the years, I’ve interacted with a lot of cool people, both recreationally and professionally. Many companies have forums for support threads and advertising new stuff, but an actual community is less common. Keep doing what you’re doing, people. It has been fun watching Insider grow and develop. Thank you all for contributing and providing us an engaging environment to interact and learn new things with.
