You can definitely get more than 4 hours on the QHD model with a tweak of settings...

Depends of course on what you're consuming on the laptop, but 4 hours is low for 'typical' use, many report 5.5-6 with conservative settings on the QHD.

It depends what you are running. If you play a game or run any intensive programs, it can run out in a bit over an hour. If you are just web surfing, with the screen turned down to 50%, you can get in the 5+ hours of usage. This is not a Stealth nor Razer issue. All computers will work this way.

  4. The battery for my UHD version while browsing at 75% brightness and with videos lasts me on average around 2-3 hours and just browsing 4-4:30 hours. It is no doubt the 4k which drains the battery but it looks great and with the compact power brick, it's an understandable trade off. A thing I have noticed however is that listening to music on spotify drains battery quicker than just browsing as well, albeit still lasting a bit longer than pure youtube vids

first time owner of the stealth and i recently bought the stealth uhd 128gb and i love it to death. the specs and the price point are perfect for my needs. screen size and bezels may be an issue for some but after awhile, i got used to it and the display is nice and the touch screen is such a nice feature to have as my first.
BUT, the problem is: battery life. i get 4-4.5 hours of battery life on light web browsing, youtube videos, and music. i change the settings constantly to 50% or lower - depending on if i need to make it brighter (i can rarely handle full brightness due to sensitive eyes, or not unless i need to work outside then i need full brightness). i was going to ask customer support about this but then i found out that's what people are getting.

with that said, i have yet to test out light picture editing and video downloads which i am a bit worried about at this point. i am positive it can handle programming and editing. however, the battery life will definitely decrease...
i am on the fence if i should return stealth - i love it but im thinking if battery life is a deal breaker: should i just suck it up and deal (4-5 hours not bad right?) but it might bite me in the ass in the future.. oorr buy the new razor blade or go to a completely different route.. should i dish out 2000$ for the new razor blade, should i consider dell xps13 or hp products (which i am concerned about the durability and longterm use as previously issues), or go back to macbook pro... ugh it's depressing and stressful about these decisions

If battery life is the dealbreaker, I'd return the Stealth and get the FHD XPS 13 with the i5. You'd get that gorgeous bezel-less display, a matte screen (I told my friend I had bought a mirror and not an ultrabook when it arrived), great battery life, and only slightly less power than the i7. It's not rated by most reviewers as the best Windows ultrabook for nothing. I mean, I would return mine too, but I like how it looks compared to other laptops too much to get something else.

It is true though, that 5 hours of battery life is way too underwhelming for an ultrabook that's supposed to unseat the Macbook Air (which can go all day, erry day) and the Dell XPS 13. I can't even squeeze out 6 hours of battery life, let alone 7, even though I'm running it at like 30-40% screen brightness with no backlit keyboard/logo, on Power Saver-not even Balanced-and Battery Saver mode turned on. I'd be overjoyed if I could hit the > 7 hours that some have reported.

Interestingly, running the Battery Report function in Windows 10 tells me that the design capacity for the Stealth's battery is 43Wh. Mine currently reports a max of 44+Wh, though. For some reason, the Stealth drains battery fairly quickly. I wonder if Razer'll ever release a BIOS update for it to increase battery life performance, just like Dell did for the XPS 13 QHD+...

You have to go to advanced settings and switch maximum processor state to something in 50-80% range. Afterwards, go to Intel graphics settings and select the most conservative power mode there. This will squeeze an hour or two more and will be closer to XPS 13 performance.

Intel graphics power mode was set to max battery life, but whose bright idea was for the "Power Saver" plan to have 100% processing power on battery? Thanks for the head's up! Hopefully this will pan out better at work tomorrow. @acon might get better battery life with this tip too.

Quite poor, to be honest. Took it (QHD) to work today and got a mere 4:01 before it hit emergency levels and hibernated. Set to power saver profile with battery extender on, CPU max to 99% (no turbo). It barely made 4 hours of browsing and editing docs in Chrome- half of the 8 hours it is supposed to reach under light workloads. Pretty disappointing.

  10. I bought an UHD/512GB Stealth last week and I must say that I've been rather underwhelmed at best. The battery life is so atrocious it totally ruins all the aspects of the Stealth I like. I'll be putting mine up for sale as soon as Apple releases new rMBP's.

What were your brightness and keyboard lighting settings? How many tabs do you have open? Im sure you know that Chrome eats battery much faster the more tabs you have open. I want to measure the difference between our reports. I'm seriously questioning if I got a broken battery model.

Wonder what @Min-Liang Tan thinks of these low battery life reports from non-professional, real life users. Really wondering how people in here got those 6-7 hour benchmarks.

As an aside, does your Stealth have like, preloaded Chroma profiles that switch when you press FN + number key? And it lights up red? Cause mine doesn't do it, and I've seen reviews and Insiders here talk about it, but Support claims its user-generated.

You bought a 4K machine with a 45Wh battery pack, known to be very heavy on the battery drain and a manufacturer-claimed 6 hours of battery life. Were you by any chance expecting it to match or come close to a QHD+ rMBP-with manufacturer claimed 10 hours and a 74Wh battery pack-in terms of battery life?

I use Edge because I heard it takes the least power to run on, and I close it when I don't need it since it really takes an hour off battery life.

I get the FN red number keys when the razer synapse fails to sync, all you have to do is turn off synapse.

This is at 40% brightness and static lighting on dim. I had about 4-5 tabs open.

Yes, it has pre-loaded chrome profiles if you don't let it use synapse. Synapse is a bloated resource hog that I deny permission to start with my computer, so I'm happy that the keyboard has built-in profiles.

The kicker is that it takes 3 hours to get a full charge, as well.

@DouglasHK, I noticed that 99% does not really turn turbo off (but I may be wrong ofc). Also, 3 hours sounds like you work and charge it at the same time. Ofc it will take long since RBS may consume 25W for CPU only out of 45W PSU output.

I tried using Edge, but I missed the synced functionality between all my devices that use Chrome too much.

That is close to what I have on my Stealth. Because of how brightly lit my workplace is, I don't need any keyboard backlighting, so I turned it and the logo (lol) off. Do you think it might be that we got defective batteries? It seems like there're two groups of people; those who get really good battery life (5-7 hours) and those who get 4, maximum 5 hours on the QHD with equal settings. Or did we screw up the battery calibration some way or another?

3 hours of full charge is way too long; it only take about 2 hours(still long) for me...

And yes, I asked because my Stealth doesn't have those Chroma profiles nor does it light up in red, Support just told me it's a "software issue" and had me do recovery on my Stealth. Well guess what? Still nothing.

Am I glad I'm getting a new replacement just because my Stealth wobbles a bit on the left side (uneven rubber strips). Then again, I might get one of those models with a broken adapter. Or coil whine. Or broken speaker... Maybe I should've just bought the XPS 13, and got dbrand to print a Razer skin on it instead.

By the way, does everyone else have Candy Crush installed on their Stealths? Or did Windows get paid by Candy Crush to do that?

I had candy crush on mine, too. Gross. Ah yeah, my logo light is off as well. It could be we have defective batteries. I mean, with everything set to max battery, I'm not sure why Razer's CEO is getting double my battery life.

It was the first full cycle of the battery, though, so maybe it will improve from 4 hours. Unfortunately I'd have to pay for shipping to send it to Singapore for any replacement, and it's literally the same price for me to fly there...

oh also, the keyboard profiles are firmware/bios. I can confirm this because I just put in a brand new unformatted SSD.

Oh cool. I'll let them know immediately. And yes, it is mysterious how his UHD machine lasts so much longer than our QHD machines; wonder if he is counting downtime/while sleeping. Have you considered running Edge instead? Chrome apparently consumes 30-50 minutes extra battery life compared to Edge/IE.

Kind of glad I decided on online classes rather than going to GIA Bangkok, then...

EDIT: So you decided to swap in a new m.2 drive? How large? Which model? I guess warranty's not on your mind anymore too...

I just hate Edge. I can't use a browser without adblock. Vivaldi is nice, but it doesn't sync accounts between different computers :/

also, swap in a new m.2 drive? void my warranty? I do not know where you got these crazy ideas. Of course I didn't void my warranty!

If I were to do that, I would use a 512gb pm951, for it's lower power consumption than the 950 or sm951
