Now, I know you've probably seen threads like this time and again, but nevertheless I need help. I plan on purchasing a new gaming mouse, but with Razer's extensive range of impressive products I am not sure what's right for me. Let me give you a few details:

First and foremost, the purpose. At the moment I rarely play high-end games, mainly due to my poor setup, but this is subject to change. I still plan to play the more casual games I play at the moment such as Minecraft and TF2 but also want to play more professional and demanding games such as Dota 2, CS:GO, Smite, DayZ etc. I don't stick to a specific genre; I want to buy a mouse because it's good rather than because it's designed around certain games (*cough* Naga *cough*). Another thing is the ergonomics. In the past I have mainly had experience with ambidextrous mice, but I am more than willing to try something new if it is more comfortable. I don't really pay much attention to my grip type but after observing a little I have discovered I mainly use a mix of claw and palm grip.

In terms of technical specs, anything that can give me the edge in games is fine. The Mamba's 16k dpi and endless buttons and gimmicks, while attractive, are a little unnecessary, but on the other hand something like the Abyssus would probably be a little too basic. Macro buttons would be a great addition, but not absolutely crucial. In terms of research, I have looked into the Mamba, DeathAdder and Taipan in the past, but still cannot come to a conclusion - and, of course, I am open to new suggestions. My friend has the DeathAdder and loves it - although it's right for him, it may not be right for me, however. The last thing to consider is the price. I'm not looking for a 'budget option' as it would usually mean compromising, but bear in mind I am also looking to buy a Kraken as well as a suitable mouse mat. The 'sweet spot' (i.e. not really a compromise but not a price that'll break the bank either) would probably be in the range of around £60-£70.

If you have an idea about which one is right for me, please reply! Also, should I buy the more expensive but cooler Chroma series or the cheaper Classic series? And have any ideas for mouse mats...?

I think the Mamba is the best currently available FPS mouse, while the Ouroboros is an all-around mouse. So I think the OuroBoros would suit you the best, but I would wait till they release a Chroma version (it has to come eventually).

razer naga hex i dont know if it conts as naga but naga hex is my favorit because when i play my games i can cast my abilities easier and faster (i play smite.. its a moba)

For what you're describing.. Probably the hex. It's meant for mobas I believe but it'll work well for most anything. I personally prefer the naga as my all around just because I can use the side buttons for other stuff like map and inventory and stuff and still have buttons for my skills. But if you're completely against it the hex would be the way to go.

Naga would work fine for mobas and mmorpgs so if you want it buy it! also get the naga 2014 instead of the hex because a lot of mobas get extra item slots for trinkets meaning hex with 6 buttoms is getting less viable if u need 7 side buttoms.

Thanks for all your responses so far, but since all three recommended mice have been different I am still a little unsure. Here is a bit more info:

    - I want to get my mouse ASAP. Meaning, if there's an entirely new version coming out in the next few months then I might have to give the mouse a miss unless it's absolutely perfect.
    - I don't need hundreds of gimmicks. I want things like side buttons but they're not a necessity.
    - Just to clarify, there's no specific genre of game I play. A lot of you seem to be recommending the Naga and Naga Hex for MMO and MOBA games, but that means nothing to me unless they're good for general games.

Thanks, and hopefully this clears things up :)

I'm with the Naga. It is my second favorite Razer Product.
(1st is the Kraken Pro. Best pair of headphones I've owned.)

The razer naga 2014 is also great in general. It has the neat numpad as side buttoms so why wait?

well, to answer concisely..... I would recommend a deathadder because from experience, it does great. I have yet to try any of Razer's more expensive mice but im sure you get better quality as you go up! If your budget is high, then go for mamba basic (cheaper and same specs I think?) and if lower budget then try out the deathadder :) glhf!
  10. I have The ouroboros. I am soon going to be looking for a new mouse and only want one from razer. I am mostly into shooters, horror, open world type games. which mouse should I choose? I have fairly large hands as well.

Hey guys, thanks for your suggestions.

I've just come back from Minecon and while I was there I tried out the Abyssus, Taipan and DeathAdder. All feel comfortable to hold, but I feel the DeathAdder and Taipan were a little more comfortable. In terms of the Ouroboros and Naga (as a few of you have suggested those), I have not yet had the chance to try them out. However, I have spoken to my friend who has been a Razer gamer for quite some time and who currently has a Naga Epic, who says it's only worth buying if you like MMOs. Is this true?

    Thanks as always.
