Why does Razer gather so much criticism?

Ok, so I am a true Razer fan, but it has come to my attention that Razer (not Corsair, Logitech, SteelSeries so on) gathers a LOT of criticism. I have owned Razer products for almost 4 months now - and they are pitch perfect (Apart from 7.1 Surround Sound making weird sounds in my Kraken X USB). Razer's criticism might be affecting me! Generally I would just click purchase, but the criticism is making me think a lot about buying it. Answers would help me be more firm with Razer, and more "This is a good brand! Let's buy it." instead of "Hmm, I like Razer, but is it actually good?".

Any responses are extremely appreciated!

Alex!

Do you think Razer is a good brand?

Nobody's perfect - even Razer.
But on the other side it has a great community, than never logitech/steelseries/<put-your-other-favorite-brand-here> ever had :)

The good thing is, that Razer is listening users, and they want to make products better. There are also some things to do, to improve - but I see the progress 🙂
I'd say Razer's great. In order for businesses to stay active with their customers, communication is always to key. Creativity, listening, suggestions, anything that Razer does that nobody could do is a big plus.
Ok. So because tons of my friends who own SteelSeries and Corsair products say "Eww why get Razer stuff when you can get Corsair or SteelSeries" and I just shut up for the rest of the day! Well, next time they say that I will do a real comparison!!

And Razer will win

For Sure

Yay

Thank you! Keep on responding pls!!

I have many Razer products, including Razer Phone 2, and I am fairly satisfied with all of it.

Like @FiszPL said, nobody is perfect, so faulty devices can be found in products of any company. The only true test you can have is to compare warranty duration and quality of support respond of mentioned brands. Because faulty devices aren't a myth, willingness of a company to help its customer is very important.
oh ok

Thanks!!
There isn't a company out there that is involved in gaming that doesn't at some point come under fire. Some people seem to think everything should be free or cheap, and yet be of outstanding quality. IMO you get what you pay for, I don't like to fault companies for making money, that's what they're in business for, to make money.

Razer makes a good product, even some of the silly fanboi stuff, hell I bought a straw... correction I bought TWO straws. Those silly non waxed paper things are disgusting, and I like silly pocket things, you should see my keychain(s)

Of course my usual purchases trend more towards my gaming life, a Blade, a Huntsman Elite, A Basilisk, and a Wolverine Ultimate. I'd go with their desktops if they still sold those (use to build my own but with age and cataracts I no longer can trust myself to do so) I've bought various keyboards, mice, and controllers as they've come out over the years and always been happy with what I've gotten the only exception being the amount of heat the Blade puts out.

There will always be fans, there will always be haters, goes for everything in this world. With this company's products I'd say the best advertisement for them is to try it and judge for yourself, you just may wind up a fan too.
Some years ago, I tried to change my complete gear to Razer. It became the most disapointing story ever in my very long computer history. Bad quality of hardware and software (drivers) over and over. Never had such a bad experience, and was annoyed, that I believed those Razer fanboys writing here, masking all the massiv problem reports with their jabbering.
I replaced they Razer mess with other brands, it was a bad and expensive experience for me.
then can I ask a simple question, why would you be here in this forum?
To warn other people, so that they don't get fooled like me!

Ok, thank you for all your responses. So, @aeroDarkJungleGreen316 I appreciate that response. Sometimes bad batches come out. I have a Kraken X USB for 3 months now, and it hasn't been bugging me at all.

My main itching question is should I get Razer Blade 15 Base 1660Ti (https://www.razer.com/gb-en/gaming-laptops/Razer-Blade-15/RZ09-03519W11-R3W1). I have looked at many reviews and they all say like, a 7 / 10 or 8 / 10. I would like your views on this is i want to get one.

I don't have experience with Razer Notebooks. They offer great features. But like all those very thin high powered notebooks, they all have often heating problems and because of that swelling batteries.
For gaming, I allways would recommend a solid Desktop machine. And this can be upgraded from time to time, a notebook not. Do you really(!?) need portable gaming hardware. If yes, than search for machines, that are thicker and have a well designed heat flow management. Physically, thin machines can't meet this.
I have the Blade 15 base, that's the one that does get hot, it's the keyboard that gets hot but only when gaming the rest of the time it's cool. I use an external Keyboard and monitor which causes it's own problems. If you do, I suggest you don't keep the lid closed, it will warp from the heat.

Other than that yeah runs like a champ for what I use it for which is MMOs, ESO and Fallout 76. I would prefer to have a desktop of course but Razer no longer seems to sell them. You may want to look into the newer models and see if the heat issue has been addressed.

Haters gon' hate.
Razer makes a stand if you want one in the Chroma theme, wish they'd add a fan to it tho (hint dropped?) :)
that or some fun lil USB fans that can also be used for say a hot room in the summer? (oops dropped another)

The heat comes from just under the keys if you're playing inside a nice external KB can be useful if you can afford it, I use an external, an external mouse, and a controller and may add another keypad. If they start making Desktops again I'd like one but barring that I may get a second lap, one for game one for coms.

I'm a bit on the older side and I've got nothing better to do at my age except sit back and put enough hours into games that I could probably win Season 6 solo if they didn't cap my hours at 4 :)

As far as the hate goes, every forum I've ever seen, there's always someone(s) who are there for no reason but to hate. I prefer constructive criticism, that's how you get things improved.
So, what's a hater?

Anyone, that ciritices my beloved product or company?
Anyone, that is not of my opinion?

In my understanding of an open, may be democratic, system, it should be allowed to express ones opinion,
either someone likes it or not.
Someting like heavy insults are not acceptable, in my opinion.
But "warning for buying some products, reporting of personal experience, criticising a company", aso, thats part of an open discussion and has nothing to do with hating.

Hi there, user experience might be varying so especially when buying gaming laptops make sure you’ve at least 2 years support guarantee. Base model Razer Blade for that price isn’t bad considering you’ll get solid cnc aluminum unibody laptop and on this build in gaming Laptop only can be found on this Razer laptop, but you can get better deals like this one, though long delivery time it provide Rtx generation providing better future proof and more powerful hardwares, like 144Hz refresh rate, TB3. A bit more expensive but Rtx gpu features like dlss and ray tracing alone worth extra bucks imo.

As for heat which’s big enemy on this thin light categories gaming laptop yes using cooling pad would help the cooling system cool your unit, Razer made one without the fans which in my experience isn’t problem at all to help the cooling system but I think cooling pad with fans will help more dissipating the heat.

Someone mentioned Razer laptops are hot it’s true and it should be so since the cnc aluminum cassis is one of cooling system for dissipating heat, as long the fans works properly plus if you’re using cooling pad it should be fine. Using similar Razer laptops stand with no fans I can use internal keyboard on long gaming session just fine, and it’s advanced model with bigger heat sink than theoretically the cassis will dissipate heat more than base smaller heatsink. Keep in mind as long as you can manage the temperature in 80ish degrees, I think more than that it’ll be starting to annoy you when using keyboard on long period.

I hope this will help your decision.

1st off your own words you state that you tried Razer "some years ago", so you have no clue what current products may be like, you claim you're still here to "warn" people as if we're all fools. Nobody liked a self appointed messianic complex on a soapbox.

2nd you insult people posting referring to us as fanboys "jabbering" saying we're masking "massive problems", there are no massive problems, I've only had one issue and I spoke to it so do many others in these forums. Change isn't brought about by insults it's brought about by open discussion of an issue.

3rd This isn't a democracy, nobody's country's politics mean a thing here so keep it to yourself tyvm

4th is a personal thing, you're "very long computer history", amusing, I'm 63 been gaming online since 1991 and offline since before that. I'm not saying that to claim I was here first, but I am old enough to know that the world is full of gamers who've been out here a very long time. I'm also old enough to know not to tell people to act their age because I know people don't change from just age, a young fool grows up to be an old fool, I could use worse words but I'm trying to keep this PG 🙂

Just don't be stupid right now. Because the way you're speaking right now, makes you sound ignorant and truthfully, a hater.
