I do like the keyboard i have a bit ( blackwidow ultimate 2016) but one thing annoys me alot.
The keyboards lack media keys in short i miss my old volume control wheel and the buttons to start/stop music and the other 2 other msuic control keys.
Before you say its on the keyboard .... its not it really does not work.
When your gaming you do not have time to push [FN] and the function keys to get this done.
Especially since most games have assigned some other functions to these keys.
Second when you get a sudden phone call or want to lower quickly the volume of the music in the background it simply takes way too long to get that done. Now i first have to pause my game, switch screen find the music player, then select the player then finally can lower the volume.
Yes the keys do not work when you got multiple sound sources active ... i really start missing the previous logitech g19 where i could do that all without leaving my game and with the game reacting to the functions keys as they should. But most important i could drop the music volume in a flash.
And never had to stop gaming ... even my wife misses that superb volume wheel.... because i do like to pump up the volume in my games ;), and she likes to turn the volume down when she wants to talk to people or gets annoyed by the noise i make :D

Not a lot of people use media key maybe that is why, I do use media keys and I do prefer them but some people think they are useless or just a waste of space on the keyboard. You could always set marcos for the media keys.

I wish they finally had these too. The volume roller and dedicated media buttons are really nice.

Razer has made keyboards in the past that had media keys on them, but slowly they've been pretty much phased out. I don't think gamers were as interesting in them, they'd rather have the additional macro keys - or keep things sleek and uncluttered with anything extra.

I haven't encountered a single game that uses the combination of Fn+F2(Lower volume in my case) or Fn+F6(pause/play music). Games do use F2 as input, but there shouldn't be any game that uses the combination Fn+F2.
Suggestion : Go to your BIOS settings, find the option Function key behavior and just toggle it to use the Special Function instead of the F1-F12. This will however keep you from using the function keys ingame as you will need to press Fn+Function key to use the F1-F12 tasks. But you get to use the F1-F12 buttons to do your oldskool tasks such as controlling media player, muting/unmuting and adjusting brightness and stuff.
    Hope this helps :D
PS: I edited it a lot of times to make it sound polite and non-aggressive and as clear as possible

lol sorry but i tried it all you forget that i use multiple programs even when gaming it simply does not really work. The main reason is that you can not set the keys to react to all programs in most cases your only allowed to set one option.
Xceir8 the volume does not respond at all when i press the fn+f keys it simply does not do anything the only time it works is when i click on my desktop.
So in game the volume does not respond at all on the keys for some weird reason.
But as i said before even if it did it takes too darn long to do that.
Try ets2 and driving with a truck at 130 m/h and then lower the volume .... you'll notice what happens ;). Its like driving a formula one car and try to do anything besides controlling the car... i am pretty sure you will not really survive.
We as humans are actually so slow that playing with a phone while driving a bicycle is often a recipe for disaster. Ofcourse when i play a shooter its less important becuase you often can hide behind some safe place. But in the games i often play reaction speed is important so a second of 2 distracted could end in a fail.
And ofcourse a angry woman next to you, because the game or music is too loud because she has to work is a similar result as driving 120 m/h with a car and try to play a game on your phone, its disaster :D
The excuse that some people like a keyboard to be plain a device to type info is non existant.
Then i would be probably better off buying cherry which has also choices in the key pressures.
Sure cherry is costing me probably a bit more but that is a real clear no fuss keyboard.
I rather see that razer lifes up his name as a real gamers delight keyboard maker, ofcourse it should not end up in being prices like logitech asks for its exclusive keyboards.
Because i bet most people here are not willing to pay over $300+ for a keyboard with some media keys on them

Yeah, volume control on board in BW like blade pro or logitech keyboard would be nice.

I use just the Function buttons for the media keys, using macros. If i do play a game with those buttons assigned to something i just make a new profile and macro the media keys to some other button.

To be honest I never shift DPI so I dedicated those keys to volume control. I very rarely mute the volume so I left that on my keyboard.

That is a great idea, I'm embarrassed that I never even thought of that...:oops:I don't ever switch DPI either or use those buttons for anything. Seems easier access than the macros on the keyboard. Thanks!

I think the reason why Razer doesn't do this is because the user base is split. Like TheCaliforniaGamer said, not everyone would use them. I'm in that camp too - I rather have a clean, minimalist keyboard without any extra bells and whistles. I like to cut off all the fat - no macros, no usb passthrough, no numpad, no LCD screen, no volume controls.

The other reason is that there are already solutions to this problem:

    1 - Use a headset.
2 - Use speakers with volume controls.
3 - Buy a different keyboard, like Das.

If Razer decided to do this they couldn't just add it to the current BW because that would annoy a lot of their users. They would have to make yet another BlackWidow model. Which is also annoying because they have over 14 different models.
