Starting today, owners of Windows 7 and 8.1 PCs are eligible for a FREE (yes, really) upgrade to Windows 10 when it becomes available on July 29th. Will you be upgrading your gaming rig to 10 when you can? Should I upgrade my 2015 Blade? Does anyone have positive or negative experiences with the developer preview?

There's no pressure to upgrade now. The offer is available til July 29th, 2016.

    Was wondering the same thing.
After reading the cons of the new system (mainly the lack of control over updates) - I'm not sure I'll ever upgrade.
    Read here - http://www.theverge.com/2015/6/1/8696949/windows-10-feature-loss
If you gonna upgrade, I suggest wait a month or two after lunch - you don't want any randoms BSOD.

Same as you ima wait a while till final bugs are done if any. I tried the preview and it was pretty good. But still gotta wait for things to become compad with the software anyways

  5. I will upgrade after a comfortable review of the new operating system. Stability is important!

I just got a new laptop so I am going to update and take it back if update turns to crap. Only downside is backing up and shifting all data again for the second time in 3 months

I signed up to "reserve" my upgrade, but I don't think I'll pull the trigger until I know things are steady. I remember the pain moving from 7 to 8. Still, I'm excited for Cortana... I'm hoping she can integrate with voice attack (or maybe even replace it).

You can sign up for the developer preview now, but I wouldn't run that on a primary gaming rig. The GA release is 7/29.

I've been running the technical preview since last October, and although certainly not perfect, the speed and alacrity with which MS has been managing updates is frankly leagues ahead of what we are all used to. Windows 10 is excellent, and I'll be upgrading both my win7 rigs and my win8 rig day 1.

I tried the win 10 build 10074 on my razer Edge but it doesn't run (freeze at login)
On my Asus Slate the win 10 build works with many bugs ;)

I dont think I will be risking it on my edge until there is more community support.

I'm all for MS getting 10 out to more people in an easier way... but to nitpick, it really bugs me that the logo doesn't disappear from the tray even after registering -_-

Hopefully MS fixed the USB 3.0 issue.

Sadly win 8.1 on my edge is broken and I'm waiting for the recovery stick since 1 1/2 months so I tried it with win 10 ;)

well i'm not that sure if windows 10 will be that great, i'm quite happy with windows 7 and no problems so i think i will keep windows 7 =)

Im quite happy w/ windows 7, and windows 10 will prob use more ram and power, because the interface seems to be very "advanced". I would wait until the day it comes out, so that I can make sure it is fully optimized.
