So, the next expansion for World of Warcraft is releasing August 30th 2016, Legion has the potential to be quite interesting for those who still play. I'm quite curious who all from Razer|Insider will be joining and what kinds of plans and expectations you have for this expansion.

Personally, I will be playing but I doubt I'll have enough friends who play to keep me around for too long. I'll most likely enjoy the storyline, do everything that can be solo and then just do some dailies for a while until I get bored and then take another break from the game.

Truthfully, if I had a fun group to play with I'd consider getting into raiding again, but I'm too shy to seek out a guild just out of the blue and too self-conscious about my skills and lack of practice that I'm terrified of embarrassing myself to new folks. (a very long fall from where I was about 5yrs years ago when I worked with one of our server's top raid guilds)

So, anyway ... how about you guys and gals? Will you be playing? What kinds of goals do you have if you are going to play?

Unfortunatley I have stopped playing after two months. New system totally sucks. I hate the nerf on my hunter, and I can't think that from lvl60 to 100 I will not recieve anything new. Back then you could choose perk every level, you could buy skill that you want to have. And now? Everything for free + one perk every 15lvl. BORING! Now I understand why few milion people left the game :slightly_sad:

I am not planning to play. While WoW is really fun when you have a good, dedicated group, I feel the game lose appeal when I'm sitting there pushing through objectives which are similar to the last set, just a different name, different story line. I've had a few friends ask if I would play with them, but I declined because I'm not going to pay for x-pacs and time to wait to play with them and never sync up.

@Styna - aside from the fact that I'm going to play for a while in the beginning, I feel exactly the same way you do. I quit about mid-way through Catalysm and didn't come back for Pandaria. I finally returned shortly before Warlords because a few friends were really excited about it and said they'd play with me. I think we hooked up maybe twice, and then not again. So, I quit again until my son decided to play again and then we played together for a few months at least, and I really enjoyed it. Then our interest petered out and we quit again.

I'm just hoping that some of my friends/family will actually play with me this time and actually find the time to meet up and play, rather than keep making promises but not keep them. Only time will tell.

@Active13245 - Things have changed so much since the last time I took the game seriously that I just stopped caring what they do with the system. I just want to play and enjoy the time with family friends and hopefully enjoy the storyline. If I can be engaged and have fun with the main story and get at least a month of time with friends and/or family, then I will have considered it money well spent. hehehe

That's a good reason to keep playing, you are right. But mostly I'm playing alone, and I really don't like all those changes. Hope you will have fun with your friends :)

I'll be playing for a while depending on how the game goes, but every expansion it is the same story for me. My friends get excited about playing WoW, convince me to play again with them, and then we spend the entire time doing different missions at different levels and never syncing together. Then they finish what they played for and stop playing seriously and I'm left alone.

    Gets very boring.

I've pretty much given up on the "I'll try yet again to sync up with you." I'm at the point in my life where I am going to gauge their sincerity by saying, "If you really want to play with me, you're going to have to pay for the x-pacs and time. Then, we'll see how often we actually play together." If they followed through, I'd reimburse them, but doubtful it'll even come to this.

I'm really hooked on Diablo 3 because once you pass the Reaper of Souls paywall, you're golden for unlimited time. For those that want to take seasonal breaks, or even rush the beginning of each season and then quit after maxing, we get a chance to play together. It's great though because the environment has really facilitated me getting to meet and spend large amounts of quality time with others who enjoy the same game (vs. pulling teeth to drag real life friends and family members to play with me.)

It definitely is the paywall that is an issue for me. I wouldn't mind so much if the game was drop in and drop out, but with you needing to pay retail for the expansion and then pay €12 a month to just play, it really is hard to justify. You would have thought Blizzard would either have the expansions be part of the price considering most people have paid far more than is necessary to own them, or drop the price of the sub since server costs have only gone down and so have their numbers. It baffles me a bit that it still costs as much for expansions and game time. Couple that with people flaking on you when they said they would play with you, and it just becomes a money sink.

Agreed. Blizzard probably doesn't care that they have lost half of their subscribers. When everyone (including players that buy the x-pac and then don't continue playing) purchase the x-pac, Blizzard makes their money straight off the bat. When players drop out, Blizzard can host fewer servers to keep the game going for the people that do play. It's a win-win for Blizzard.

I feel like they do not devote as many servers to Diablo 3 as they should, but that's probably because the game does not require a continual feed of money (whether through subs or x-pacs.)

I'm playing regularly again after a long break (for personal reasons and the game getting less fun). I'm keeping my hopes for Legion in check, but I like what I've seen in 7.0 and what I've read from those that have played Beta. The simplification of the gameplay in most classes is really interesting, though I haven't decided if, long-term, its a good or bad thing (or neither).

The story definitely got interesting in the last two weeks...

If you are going to play a lot, you won't need money to buy subscription. By month of playing you can earn enough gold to buy ingame token, which allows you to play next month, You can do it over and over, but you have to remember that the price (for token) is still rising.

I am definatelly going to play WoW. I bought expansion few months ago. I am not type of person that's getting bored so fast. I played solo for over 1000 hours and I am still enjoying it: getting better gear, achievements. I agree that the game is getting easier each expansion, but it still the best MMO ever, so I highly recommend it.

Acht that requires some work to gain enough gold though, which Im not always willing to put in.

    Truth!! LOL
I was blown away by the opening cinematic and then the scenario afterwards to introduce you to the new story. I loved it.

@QyuBurt - I'm old, we have small amounts of money we can use here and there - I'm more likely to buy and sell a token on the AH than I am to use in game gold to purchase more time. I'd rather just charge a month on my card, buy a token and then have plenty of gold in game because of it. LOL :big_grin_: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye_:

I'm definitly playing Legion, I pre-ordered and make me 100 boost character ready for the new expension! 10 day's left can't wait!

I'm not sure that even really takes much work these days. If there are any achievements or old raids you want to solo then you can collect that money very quickly, without even trying to. My son used to pay for his subscription that way, and after purchasing a token off the AH he'd have enough money for the next month's token in 1-2 weeks.

Aaaah so it is actually viable? I was thinking it was just a gimmick

Yeah, I just logged out of the game and they're currently running about 35k gold. However, I haven't been doing anything except picking up the pre-legion quests and some older legacy stuff, and even though I'm still getting repairs and buying things here and there my funds aren't actually going down. So, even just messing around I'm at least keeping up. Run the previous expansion's raids solo (especially Cata/MoP stuff) and it seems you can do just fine.

On my realm tokens costs 70-80k gold and I can still easly get it without doing anything special (just daily, raids)
