Crackling and distorted sound when enabling surround on Kracken Pro 2015

I own a Kracken Pro 2015 and have been using it successfully for the past 3 years.
About 2-3 weeks ago the sound became distorted with crackling sounds (like when your computer is not fast enough to produce the sound).
I tried uninstalling and re-installing the Razer drivers and software but there is no change.
Of course since this is the 2015 version I have to use the older legacy surround driver and Synapse 2 software.

When the surround sound is disabled the sound is fine - no distortions.

My computer specs:
Windows 10 Pro
Intel I9-9900KF
16 GB RAM
ASUS z390-PRO motherboard.

Is this a driver problem?
Has anybody else encountered something similar?

Hi there! Thanks for creating this thread. Were there any changes made to your system/device before the issue (e.g.e., Upgrading the operating system version or connected new hardware parts)? Let's isolate the problem by following the steps provided by this link. Let's see if it helps.
