Huntsman Mini Slowing down system start after firmware update | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
I was very happy with my Razer Huntsman mini up untill the moment I noticed that it had sticky keys problem. Tried updating the firmware through Razer's own special tool (they do recommend using the latest firmware)... aaand the whole SYSTEM now starts WAY slower than it should. The problem is a 100% firmware update, as it's never occured before and the system starts perfectly IF I disconnect the KB.
It is impossible to go back to the previous firmware (what?...) and the sticky keys issue persists on top of that. The KB was sent to me as a gift from a friend, who lives in a different country. RMA won't work. I'm stuck with a pretty much broken product.

I'm having the same exact issue after doing the update yesterday. On the phone with their support center now to see if they can help roll the firmware back. I only had the keyboard for 2 days, this is terrible if they have known about this issue since last month.

Wow, quite a few people are dealing with this :frown_:
Keep us posted about your progress with support, if you have time :wink_:

Hello! Do we select the "Include THX Logs" and "Include Runtime Logs" options when collecting the logs?

Hey there! Please send all the logs that you can find from the Razer folder, even if you do it manually, as long as you copy them by folder.

I have exact the same issue.
Sometimes the login takes forever and the explorer hangs sometimes it boots up normally. When the issue happens, then I sometimes have to restart again because I can't use my computer at all.

I have two months left where I can return the keyboard back to Amazon and get a refund. I will wait some time and see, if this issue gets resolved. I hope so, because I really like the keyboard, but it sometimes renders my PC unusable which is a big no no.
me and other 20 friends using this keyboard have same issues
intel and amd systems

reliability history shows with huntsman connected only in the systems

windows hardware error
windows explorer crash during loging and taskbar freezing pc and making logging take more time
4 keyboard drivers installed and showing like we have 3 diferents keyboard
gamemanagerservice.exe stop working and other problems currently connected to the huntsman

any fix?

There is none good fix at the moment, we just need to wait for razer to fix this, which they are not in hurry ;/
Well, all I can say is that they have not come back to me stating that this is something I have installed on my PC. they have taken alot of files and logs from me and have stated that they are askign the devs to look into addressing this. But have not really heard back from them since, except for the odd automated message saying that they havent' heard from me in a few days and that if I don't reply they will close my ticket. Annoying and also easy to address, but it is what it is. I have since moved on to the Anne Pro 2 Keyboard and am not sure I will be going back to the Razer. Even though the Red linears on the razer feel and sound better. This keyboard just works, and their Tap feature for arrow keys have one me over.

Have the exact same issue, but Razer Support just tries to give me a second replacement, which does not fix the issue (same with the replacement device).
I have a huntsman mini with exactly the same problem. I've been using a blackwidow and deathadder together with no problems, apart from the sketchy synapse3 software. With the huntsman mini connected it takes my win10 gaming PC 10-15 mins to progress past the start menu. I chose this keyboard over the ducky one 2 mini because i've bought into the eco system quite heavily. It's starting to wear very thin with me now, the hardware is OK, but the firmware/software is the least robust i've ever used. Come on, get it sorted, it isn't good enough for expensive kit.
Just to share, my Huntsman Tournament Edition TKL does it on my Intel Z390 system as well and I'm pretty sure it's firmware related. I know this is a Huntsman mini thread but my Huntsman Tournament Edition TKL has the same problem as well. Don't understand why Razer don't test their firmwares properly and inconvenience their customers. I reinstalled Windows 3 times for this stupid problem.
Just sharing, so new user won't have to waste their time to go through all what I did for last 3 days... I am very sure.. Huntsman Mini cause taskbar freeze & system tray freeze upon Windows Startup, or when, right after plug in huntsman mini to USB port. The starter bar will freeze..

I am unlucky one, never read this thread until last night, or else I would able to figure out this problem much earlier.. I tried to re-format Windows twice, fresh installed both Home & Pro version, unplug and re-plug every single piece of my hardware, including swaping my motherboard, cpu, gpu, ram, ssd, remove and reinstall every single hardware's driver... but, no improvement.. after 3 days of keep trying and trying, I finally found that Huntsman Mini is the one causing all these freezing..

My system info:
Mb: MSI B550 Edge Wifi
Cpu: Ryzen 5600x
Ram: 4x8gb xpg rgb 3200mhz
Ssd: Samsung 980 Pro
Gpu: Zotac 3070 OC
I give up, Im going back to Logitech for keyboards. I have the huntsman mini and having the same issues you all are having with they keyboard. I spent about 2hrs on the phone with razer only for them to hang up on me. Never will buy a razer product again.
Yep no help from razer, they suguest to return the keyboard for a new one, which will not be razer
Guys, don't waste your time on this thrash. It will never be fixed by Razer and their pathetic team.

Even mistakenly bought a Viper 8Khz mouse and that isn't powering up at every cold boot and need to get it unplugged and plugged back. Razer declined to refund stating it's not defective yet they do not offer a firmware fix.

I hope you guys find peace in dumping your Razer thrash and getting some other brands that actually work. Razer doesn't realise basic I/O devices like mouse and keyboard basic functions should just work. If they don't, they are defective even with a firmware that is buggy. To date, 3 months and counting they can't even solve this problem with the taskbar freezing and it actually speaks volumes about Razer and their substandard quality of the products and how they actually treat customers. Never again...

I'm expecting this comment to be deleted anyways.
Here is an issue, that could be related to this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/lnmet0/an_update_on_usb_connectivity_with_500_series/

Apparently there are issues with USB devices on x570 boards which AMD is aware of.

I am not sure if our issue with the Razer Huntsman Mini is related to this or even caused by this, but there are users that are reporting similar problems (this for instance: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/lnmet0/an_update_on_usb_connectivity_with_500_series/go6zgb8?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).

I have myself a x570 board and Ryzen 3000 CPU. I wouldn't be surprised if this is somehow related.

Would be interesting to know if there are Intel platform users that have this problem with the Razer Huntsman Mini as well or if it is just limited to AMD platforms.
I have the exact same issue and I’m on Ryzen with a 570 board.
To all of u. There is a firmware update here: /huntsman-mini-broke-my-windows.65606/page-12
All issues solved. Fresh Windows installed trying reproduce issues. Its fixed. Finally. Very happy. I think its more AMD Windows problem rather than Razer. Not optimised software and it working on Intel boards.

Thank you, for sharing. That fixed it for me as well. Appreciate the group effort here. Take care.

Ok that was pointless, all their application did was tell me I already had the latest firmware. Extremely disappointed with the support so far!!

Ah, that is very unfortunate! Thanks for keeping us posted
well I'm not big, but im on Youtube, at least my gaming channel isn't big, but i'm posting a vid now about this lackluster support that we pay good money for. Glad my Anne Pro 2 is on it's way. Probably my first and last Razer product
Yeah I think Im gonna get anne too, post a link to your vid when its up Please 🙂
Same issue here, I reinstalled my windows three times until I found whats wrong. I sent a ticket to them too. From what I can see this issue is around for a long time now, look: /huntsman-mini-broke-my-windows.65606/
First post nov 11, Im just shocked there is no solution yet.
It's unbelieveable that Razer is just flat out ignoring this!..
Hello. I have this same issue out of the box. Do you guys think I should contact them or just straight up ask for a refund. Do you think they're actually doing something on this fix or new firmware cause I dont wanna get rid of it knowing that it might get fixed anytime soon. Thank you...
I don't think anyone at Razer is gonna do anything about this any time soon unless there is mass complaints. They had me run through a ton of troubleshooting steps but I told them to escalate it over an email. If they don't or won't sort this out sometime soon, im gonna be on my way to another keyboard, and will be switching out the rest of my peripherals too.
